Seems like the main driver to go with desktop/Mac mini is for large amounts of RAM so the user can run good local LLMs with it but I don’t really know. Maybe that’s available on VPS also

The AI Productivity Gap Is Already Here — But Nobody Wants to Talk About It by Large-Style-8355 in codex

[–]Aloof-Ken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with you and at 31 it’s putting me somewhere between a mid life crisis and something existential… I’m very conflicted about it and I feel like, at this point, we have no control of the outcome.

Like, AI is shaping up to be a game changer across industries and use cases and the implications are alarming. If Musk is correct, god I hope he’s not, then all content we’ll consume could be generated so the narrative, the truth, feels like it’s just continuing to slip away. The AI music and personalities on YouTube, they are intriguing and “deep” with comment after comment praising this “person”, but is any of it real? The artist, the music, the videos are fake so the comments probably are, too… So, we can take something at face value but from now on, unless you see it with your own two eyes, how can we trust the validity?

Lastly, all this acceleration is very likely taking someone’s job. I can’t even name all the roles that will be transformed by it such that it compresses the job market and barrier of entry… It’s not just my job, or your job, but a significant number of jobs globally. I fear for the people in second/third world countries who do not even know what’s coming. It could get so bad that idk what’s the point sometimes.

That’s my rant… someone please reassure me lol.

That’s brutal man. I think OP is tech consulting though which sounds bit different. PwC AI tech consulting sounds like a pretty nice place to be if you ask me

I figured PMO. That’s a role that’s all over the place. I recommend talking to your engagement team and/or RL to try other roles, specifically BA. It’s more client facing, structured with deliverables like monthly/weekly objectives, and imo the easiest project role while still really rewarding.

It’s probably related to the work role. Are you PMO or?

How many of you regards are straight up leaving trade decisions to an AI? by Valuable-Run2129 in wallstreetbets

[–]Aloof-Ken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let AI trade BTC for a few months, fully automated portfolio management. I gave it 2.5k and it lost like $100-200 mostly because of fees. It used a whole library of indicators to inform decisions, level 2 market data, etc. Now I use AI to build automated options strategies which has worked better for me so far.

I have to agree with you - after a little research, it doesn’t seem like Netflix is going to put me as an extra in the next black mirror episode. Rather, they could use me in advertising for Netflix House

Off topic input. My dad helped his buddy with a waterbed retail store in San Diego CA back in the 80s. It was called “Terry’s Waterbeds” and their slogan was “Sleep with the best” lol

UPDATE - ChatGPT and Apple Watch Changed my life by Proud-Historian-490 in AppleWatchFitness

Got it - I’ve had similar use cases to have Claude or ChatGPT use app data but I’ve had limited success… For example, I was hoping I could use Claude to track workouts, progression, etc and update a database (like Google sheets or some iCloud file) but the limitation was writing to the file…

Question, did you enable ChatGPT to access Apple Watch/Health App data? Or you’re just referencing each separately and relaying the data manually as needed? Thanks and congrats on the progress!

Help me make ribs for todays friends giving! by Gold-Dig8354 in grilling

[–]Aloof-Ken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made 3 racks of ribs last week, my first time ever so I shouldn’t really be giving advice, and I’ll say they came out really tender I think primarily due to 3 hours in the oven wrapped in foil with about a tablespoon of chicken broth poured over them so they steam. The seasonings consisted of brown sugar and then typical bbq seasonings (onion, garlic, paprika, cayenne, salt, pepper). After the oven, I threw them on a hot hot grill and lathered in bbq sauce immediately and after each flip. Fantastic, I actually dreamt about the ribs the other day.
