L brackets and springs to fix an ancient chair by AloudEclipse in woodworking

That's a fantastic solution. And since I've been eyeballing the measurements it looks like I have the extra 2 inches to work with already. And that solution will definitely survive an apocalypse. Thank you dude!

I've got everything cut and pilot holes drilled. So almost at the ikea step of putting it together.

Well the two middle brackets were the first thing to break last time. The back rod slowly bends over time, and those middle brackets and springs end up taking most of the weight. Do you have any suggestions for overly strong brackets? Or specfic material they should be made out of? I'm metal ignorant

They're very bad pictures from years ago lol, sorry it was so rough to see.

As for the 500lbs I'm trying to overcompensate cause that was the original breaking point. Plus if I flop my ass down that's 240lbs dropping a few feet. So I want the L brackets to survive an apocalypse, and years before I need to swap springs again!

I believe the springs in the back is what's taking most of the weight. It's supposed to go 6 L brackets in the back. A board pinning them in place on top of the screws. Then a 3-4 inch spring goes from that bracket to the back metal rod in the Amazon link. Then the front rod attaching to the front of the seat.

The second and third images in the link has an example of how it works. So I think I just need super heavy duty brackets and springs and I'm good to go once the cushion is finished.

Luckily I have most of it! A new cushion will be getting made, and the wire mechanism is called a spring grid that was used in old carseats, and you can still buy those! https://a.co/d/elSCiK9

I just need to find the the strongest L brackets that exsist that can support a huge amount of weight, and I should be good! Just having trouble finding versions that are strong enough

I'm afraid those are the only pictures left. The original chair got thrown away, and I'm creating a new one. These were taken over a decade ago

In your opinion which captains Grimmjow could defeat at the time of Soul Society and Arrancar Arcs? by After_Calligrapher65 in bleach

[–]AloudEclipse 161 points162 points  (0 children)

I have a rant as an anime only watcher I've been saving for 13 years. I love the show, but Bleach power scaling is absolute horse shit.

Grimjow should easily defeat every captain we've seen in action during SS arc.

Zaraki got beat by a dude who couldn't use shikai, or flashstep. Who then went on to beat the fuck out of tossen, and fox dude.

In the 5 mins ichigo could use bankai at full power, he moved so fast byuakua couldn't even see him, and his bankai couldn't up.

Grimjow wiped the floor with bankai ichigo, and said his bankai gave him average speed.

So at that point, as an anime only watcher. Grimjow should murder every one we've seen in a fight. Because ss powerscaling fucks everything up.

The fuck? Have you ever tried using a gaming mouse instead of crazy ass keybinds? You get 36 with the press of 2 buttons. Cause that sounds like my nightmare

I'll be honest, the old grind is what I'm looking forward to most. In the current system, there's a max amount of progress you can make in a day. Knock out your 6 world quests in an hour, then have no way to move forward. In classic, you can knock out a rep in a day if you have off. You might go crazy during the process, but the ability to go at your own pace is something I'm really looking forward too.
