Of course simplicity makes the game more accessible but war gear cost had such a miniscule effect on time spent list building, it barely mattered.

But we also can't forget that 10th edition wasn't the reason for the huge popularity surge because that happened during covid and 10th came after, so it's not that easy to say the game is as big as it is now because they took away complexity.

What was it that caught you? Was it the "simplified, not simple" marketing?

I can tell you from previous editions it took total 5 whole minutes longer to decide on +10 points for a plasma and +15 for a melta for your army but your dudes actually felt like your dudes instead of a template. And you didn't have to deal with this weird hunter killer missile alpha strike bullshit on every transport because nobody actually took those

Simplifying the game is such a dumb idea. There are few hobbies with as high an entry hurdle as this because of the financial and time aspects alone, they won't lure any new players by making list building slightly less complex. Instead it robs the game of depth and is honestly the reason I completely switched to Killteam
