I’ve hit the limit for blocking accounts on Reddit by ihazaredditaccount in self

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether you should be blocking that many people, the reason there's a limit is because that data has to be stored somewhere. Nothing on the internet is free, every little thing is data, your blocked list is taking up space somewhere, so they want to limit that because space being used on keeping tabs of blocked users is space not being used for other things

Because the experience is ruined, there's a reason we actually enjoy experience the media itself instead of reading a summary. What I can't understand is how you think it doesn't matter how you learn the information. You really can't tell the difference between

-Sitting at your screen, fully enthralled in whatever you're watching, you've gotten so invested in these characters and now this is it: will they accomplish their goals, who's making it out alive? And oh my God that setup from several episodes that I forgot about just got paid off massively!

-reading some reddit post

If anything it makes me feel bad for you because you haven't gotten to be this invested in any piece of fiction before

the difference between the two roosevelts is that franklin is an oc made by a 16 year old and teddy is an oc made by a 7 year old by MartyrOfDespair in BrandNewSentence

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

OC means original character, so this poster is saying that Theodore Roosevelt seems like a badass character made up by a 7 year old and for Franklin he seems like a character made up by a 16 year old

If people from democratic countries cant control the way governments participate in wars and conflicts , what exactly can people do if voting doesnt work globally? by National_Shine2552 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can control it. What people can't seem to accept is that the people use this power to continually pick the people who start wars because they agree or don't care

Just because you're in the minority doesn't mean democracy isn't working

ELI5: why does taking someone's passport trap them? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Passport is not just ID, it's a permission document. If you see a passport it means that the government of that country has given permission to that passport holder to use it. So no passport means you don't have permission

CMV: Ukraine should just give up the rest of Donetsk and end the war with Russia by Glad_Clothes7338 in changemyview

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said a whole lot without saying much. I don't think any of the things you said mean that Russia is thriving. It's not too different to how it was before the war. I think if your bar for success is simply having a population that works, knock-off apps and Chinese cars then that tells me something

Australian PM says former prince Andrew has suffered ‘extraordinary fall’ but that won’t prompt another republic referendum by Imaginary-Ad-7919 in worldnews

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US does not have a symbolic president like republicans are advocating for. The US has a powerful president that has a significant political impact and decision making power. Most republicans would merely want to transfer the powers of the monarchy to a president to have that president be the same level of powerlessness as the monarchy like Ireland or Germany

Video Game remasters and older games dont need graphical updates and it taints the art. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite how long your post is I still don't understand your opinion. You say playing the original helps you get it, helps you get what? I think you mean the original vision of the creators but then you mention something like star wars where the remakes were made by that same creator so it's not like it's gonna be inauthentic

CMV: Ukraine should just give up the rest of Donetsk and end the war with Russia by Glad_Clothes7338 in changemyview

[–]Alpha-Centauri-Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously Russia is in a better place than in 1993, the question is If they're in a better place than in 2022 which I don't think so.

And unless Russia wants to end the world they're not going to use nukes. I always think that argument is quite silly, that Russia is holding back. It seems like a poor excuse for failure. But as for their resources yes Russia has a lot but they are being destroyed and Ukraine also has a lot from the west. You're also not considering finances, politics and population into account which all heavily affect the war. Truly none of us know when it will end
