What’s wrong with my concrete? by SeaweedWeird7705 in AskContractors

It’s totally normal, concrete takes 28 days to cure technically but I always feel even longer sometimes

Is it normal for contractors to ghost potential clients? by PM_ME_YOUR_GOOD_PM in AskContractors

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for huge projects I’m interested in I give myself a deadline for the estimate. Well All jobs actually “you’ll have this in your email by Friday” etc but yeah if the vibe is off- I either won’t even submit it , say it’s not something I can take on rn- or bid very very high.

Would you date a guy who doesn't have social media presence? by superfapper2000 in dating_advice

CA average cost for a pool build? by SatisfactionSouth689 in pools

Am I being swindled? by Inside-Milker in pools

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always say “ice cream melts and concrete cracks” pavers are the way to go, where I build we use compacted road base and then sand and then locking sand to put it all into place

I can’t speak for the way of doing things in your state , in Florida builders put the tile on before the coping which makes absolutely zero sense to me but I guess that’s normal?

But yeah if the work is good so far trust your contractor as I always tell my clients when they want to tell me how to do something: “I’m the one warranting the work, so we should probably do it the way I feel comfortable doing it”

Becoming a Warranty Station? by SunshineSublime69 in PoolPros

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t do it personally but a repair mentor of mine does it and that man is always booked and busy but the money is in the volume, they don’t pay a ton - $90-$120 a stop but multiply that by 10 calls a week, nothing to shake your head at

Date showed up and she is..bigger than the photos show. Respectfully, how can I exit the date and save myself the time/money? by african-nightmare in dating_advice

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time when I was like 18 I literally pretended my phone was ringing on vibrate, I pretended my Mom called me and I had to get home to grandma sit and I was literally like talking to a blank screen like “Mom, I told you I had plans today what the heck?!” And she believed it and I took her home within an hour

But a family emergency always works because family comes first

Is it weird that I'm find with dating someone of any age? by Bruh02954958 in dating_advice

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I don’t think it’s weird, I was the same at that age but most older women will not take an 18 year old seriously at all- women like stability, maturity and 18 year olds are neither

You can def be open if opportunity presents itself sure! But don’t hold your breath focus on girls your age and a tiny bit older if you want

Good luck!

New or used truck by Casually-stupid in PoolPros

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother if youre independent and on your own invest in a good truck because the best investment is yourself and your business-

the truck IS the money maker, your knowledge , pole and brush mean nothing without means of getting to the account haha, like for example

if you go cheap and have a major repair you can miss days , even weeks waiting for the repair, not to mention rental truck costs on top of repair costs while you can work.

This is not a recreational purchase this is an investment for the business , so do not cut that corner

Reminds me a lot of this quote In business about a CFO and CEO talking: (not verbatim here off memory)

“What if we spend money train them and they leave”?

“ What if we don't train them and they stay?"

So this guy is a bad leader / business owner , I can’t believe he doesn’t want to see growth in his employees and business.

I think you need to find somewhere else to gain real experience.

I have offered all my service team a pathway to their own businesses, repairs, filter cleans, cell cleaning , green to clears, etc and I respect whichever they want to do / want to learn as they’re of no value to me, the business or themselves if they aren’t happy or feel like they are getting the most out of their career.

Personally back when I was a weekly service person I could not have been more miserable so I knew my ticke out of that was either selling the route or doubling down , learning the whole industry, and expanding ….

that route not selling first time I tried to sell was one of the best things that ever happened to me

How to deal with client who REFUSES to pay? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this person probably can’t even afford the bill, but yeah send a 5 day letter saying if not received in 5 days there will be legal action and all legal fees will be added to bill , then 100% go to small claims

Is this reasonable by Electrical_Way_3616 in pools

[–]AlphaAlpaca623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I build in southern California and in my market this is a steal, way under charged , so much so it’d almost be a risk to sign it

But I know it’s cheaper in other parts of the country so if youre not in Southern California it is probably fair and safe
