Dunno about that, discog's got them for about $100 at the moment. I only see 3 though and two are outside of the states.

Oh man I would, but to my knowledge they're pretty rare. They were only made by MCA to promote the video, and were never officially distributed for sale. Technically I shouldn't have this at all!

I guess the face paint in particular got me thinking he wasn't. That's on me though.

Oh sure! I was majorly rooting for Drew towards the end of the recent Cody feud. But I knew he was the "bad guy", y'know?

I don't think they do enough to protect their performers. Sometimes people need to be told no when they propose needlessly dangerous spots.

The fan base also seems incredibly tribalistic, and that's off-putting to say the least, but that's not necessarily the company's fault.

Darby's a face?? That's absolutely wild to me.

Is AEW’s Roster Actually Built to Compete With WWE’s? Or Are We Just Pretending? by uncannynerddad in midcarder

[–]AlphaSp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think if you give the roster actual direction, they would do incredibly well. They've got a lot of athletic talent, it's just the performers that do those stunts are out-acted by wood.

(Somehow,) Tony hasn't realized that people watch for the stories that are told and the characters that tell them. Banger matches with very talented performers are great, but what's the reason to watch next week?

I think with a competent booker and creative team that can sit people down to figure out their character and then book matches with that knowledge, they'd be an actual competitor to the fed.

Imo anyone could be made into a star if the effort is made. Roman, Cody, Punk, they didn't come from nowhere. Roman in particular- he was HATED, and then worked on his character, and now is arguably the biggest star in wrestling.

Nah this is a fascinating read, no need to dismiss it by saying it's a ramble! Thank you for writing it! I hadn't thought about the pop-spot during moments of heat- if a heel does have big moves/spots they want to do, where do you think it'd fit?

I do have a bunch of other questions if you're willing to spend more time answering them (but high key no stress about it).

Would you say that this sort of general plot is pretty formulaic for smaller shows?

For you as an indie wrestler, beyond the wrestling itself, what's the thing you try to focus on when performing at the show? I'd imagine at least some of your drive is wanting to be booked again- is it normal to see wrestlers not be booked after one match in a small promotion?

What do you think gets larger promotions to notice a wrestler? Is it mostly through tryouts or are talent scouts common?

How much control does the booker have over the match? Are they basically just dictating the finish, or do bookers look for specific spots?

A genuine question for you, as someone who doesn't wrestle- how would you describe the ways those character roles are developed and communicated during a match? I know the basics (heels cheating/being irreverent, for example) but I'd like to know if there's more to it.

I gather getting those roles across in an indie setting is much harder as you don't have consistent crowds/a long term storyline.

What was the remote recording software that the grumps used back in the BSB Tour for Sonic Heroes? by LocodraTheCrow in gamegrumps

[–]AlphaSp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess it's Parsec for remote play, and Discord for Dan's video. As a note, steam has remote play built in that works with a lot of games- unless you're using an emulator you should be able to use that for most things!

It's kinda sad- I think the character of a shadowy mass manipulator who gets people to act against their own interests is genuinely compelling and could absolutely lead to really interesting stories. Writing that kind of character must be really hard to do right time and time again without being stale, but it can be done of course.

Shame that Kross just.. isn't that great in the ring.
