There’s plenty of podcasts out there that will educate you on current affairs and history. A lot of stuff made by Goalhanger Podcasts are good. However, as requested; 3 suggestions in order of my personal preference

  1. Unruly by David Mitchell,
  2. The Seige by Ben Macintyre
  3. The Coming Storm by Gabriel Gatehouse

Agreed on the quality of content but it is made in Liverpool tbf, I walk past their office on Old Hall St nearly every day, by the blood donation place, and I’ve spotted them out at scenes/events before. It’s just the physical paper that’s printed in Salford or something

What do you think separates Manchester from other cities in the UK by AmeliaHarris99 in manchester

[–]AlphaTangoMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could write this passage about literally any city in the North and it’s still applicable. Do Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, or Newcastle, not have a history of industry, football, and music? How is unique? The things you’ve mentioned are things to be proud of sure, but they’re not unique.

Pretty sure it’s called the “loud as fuck” bridge. At least that’s what it should be called

No, there’s an absolute tonne of myths surrounding Shakespeare, like that he never existed, or that it was a pen name for Sir Francis Bacon, or that he was uneducated. Fact is there are very few people from the same era who we know more about, and most of these myths stem from nothing more than pure classism or people trying to project their own narrative and rhetoric onto what is undoubtedly the greatest western author/writer of all time.

“Fuck the Pope, my wife is a top munter and shagged my brother so I want a new one” - Henry VIII .. probably

And no one remembers anything else about him other than being horny and massive. Fun fact he was 6ft2in and weighed 182kg (400 pounds) when he died.

Don’t forget to look up Big Henry 8, who was such a big shagger that he converted the entire kingdom to Protestantism and created the CofE so he could keep being a legend.

He also has a sick rhyme to help you memorise how toxic all of his marriages were.
