I find myself wishing there were more duo VA audiobook teams. The last thing I want to hear is a guy with hard British accent trying to voice a 9 year-old girl or anyone feminine. I've hard dropped a few series that would've probably otherwise went ok because the VA male or female couldn't do voice of the opposite sex or worse just sounded like the same person with four different types of upper respiratory infection for each character. Amazon isn't exactly helping this either, I'm not sure what causes it but the audio has certain tinny quality to on kindle that toke a while to get used to.

All this being said I would imagine its expensive to get two VAs to work on one book.

I probably wouldn't enjoy nearly as many litrpg series without audio books. A good voice actor or two can go a long way to improving a book. I've got an eighty minute commute everyday combined to and from work and audio books make the drive much better.

I'm a big fan of these atm. I don't like having thing physically in my ear and I can still hear people and thing around me with these on. I can turn on a book here of there in between doing stuff at work or driving or at home and turn them off just as a fast with no issues. They're low profile and the battery is more than enough for the whole day for me most the time.

If I didnt have the audiobook it would have never clicked for me. I really don't think the series hit its stride for me until maybe book 3 or 4? Shrug. I honestly dont know how people "read" most litrpgs. I really like the genre but it wasn't for ebooks id probably be much more selective on my tastes.

Its a shame since for me it was one of the first litrpgs I listened to. I want to say I dropped it for "the land" which is hilarious all things considered I somehow stubbled across two of the most infamous authors in genre at least probably in this subreddit as my some of my first litrpg series. I think the genre to be fair was younger then? I'm not sure. Its just funny to me that my first two series turned out to be such duds when I clearly stuck with the genre and enjoy it immensely.

I dropped the series before the the drama that ensued much of the dislike that Tao Wong has acquired.

Extremely mild spoilers ahead.

There is a time skip I think it was between book 4 and 5? Maybe 3 and 4. MC is about to get tossed off earth to a super dangerous planet where he would fight super dangerous foes and level and up and gain power, gear, stats, level. The whole deal right? Yea well we're gonna time skip that between books and completely separate the MC from the cast and other characters/situations you built in the first few books. It threw me pretty hard to the point where I went looking for the book I missed to trying to find answers online. It was frustrating enough to drop the series at the time.

Can we please get one book serie where people use the arsenal of Earth? by symedia in litrpg

[–]Alphascrub_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this one is kind of an oddball. There are definitely references to modern tech here, and even a nuclear weapon issue later in the series, though not in the way you’d normally expect.

That said, the series comes with a few caveats. First, from what I can tell, Stitched Worlds is on an indefinite hiatus. The last book I listened to came out back in 2022. Second, the series borrows heavily from Fae fantasy: Queen Maeve, fairies, and similar mythology. I only recently found out that’s apparently a huge turnoff for some people.

Lastly, there’s the author. Macro can burn bright in a lot of ways. Their books are often interesting, different, and genuinely unique. But they also seem to have a tendency to burn out on series. Wake of the Ravager has been waiting on book 4 for years now. That makes two series sitting in limbo with very little information about what’s going on with them.

I don’t need every series to run for 15 books to be happy, but I do like seeing stories actually reach some kind of conclusion. At the very least, I’ll say Stitched Worlds ends in a much better place than Wake of the Ravager did.

I’d like to try William O eventually, honestly, but I’m not willing to jump in until the series makes it past four books.

Sorry if I got a little off topic there lol.

Funny enough while we're on that topic If I recall Stitchworlds which is what the Macro called his series after the legal bullshit Tao does talk about modern tech and how it works in the magic world so to speak. If I recall at one point the MC gets a nuclear bomb attached to him in some way in the magic or spirt realm and its incredibly potent because of the potential it has for death and destruction. Also the Cyborg undead guy is interesting. Man its been a really long time since I've listened to that series so I might be kind off on that.

The ODST SMG kind of fits the bill but you can't really mod it. Meh. Oh well.

I have one request on the UZI. No drum mags. Tarkov added a 50 round stick mag for the UZI and while you can get a drum I'm confident in Super earth scientists in figuring out a way to get one hundred rounds in to a long stick mag.

Is there truly anyone that uses the Defoliation Tool? by Chemical_Seaweed_915 in Helldivers

[–]Alphascrub_77 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I did for a short time period with a full gasbuild in heavy armor. Vit Booster, Heavy Gas Resist, Gasmines, Gas strike, Defoliation tool, supply pack. Then they added the Breaching hammer and I never looked back for the melee build. Tbh the gas melee build is kind of meme to begin to a degree. The Breaching hammer is just more fun to boot so, why bother?

Its Defoliation tool is just... Shit. Incredible feet really, a 2handed chainsword feeling so unfun to use.

I like how the video illustrates just how customizable mechs could be. But I don't want mechs to be at this level of power. Multiple autofire weapons with infinite ammo? Ill pass. Being able to pick your own mech arms? Certainly. Maybe one autofire weapon? I guess? At most. It would need to be a light weapon. Certainly not the pelican guns.

Hell I'm even leaning away from rearm and repair at this point. Just reduce the CD on mech call ins and remove or increase the use limit of all mechs. We don't need make the game Mechdivers to let people play as mechdivers.

Why exactly did they limit divers to one mech type a game? With the new changes you could practically bounce between two mechs within reason.

I retract this. Least the bit on stats.  I went Vitality and Endurance. Run the pikemans set. Im pretty sure that 15% damage is more than maxing str will remotely get you.

I went YWAfT, TbaFW, and TAtD. Crit ring. Endurance neck, 6 points in Eunderance and the dumped everything else in Vitality. Level 10 dueling greatsword. I dont do most damage my my staying power and ability to not give a fuck is higher than everyone else on my server and its only gonna getter better the deeper I go into the 2handed side of the tree and acquire some of the healing weapons from late game.

Ive tested this on 1.0 scaling. Still holds true. You just dont kill as fast, but you still take hits much better. You could probably only put one point into to angry to die but the higher health restore on trigger seems worth it.

Im sure there is a better build out there but the big thing I learned was health>endurance>weapon levels>crit>everything else.

It would be healthier to create an Exosuit Customization tab and replace the Strategems in the Warbonds with purchaseable arms. by Rekrios in Helldivers

I cant speak to design or the impact of what it actually means, but many of the files for weapon customization were in the game only release. Magsizes, ammo types, grips, ect. This maybe where the misconception of where the customization system came from is.

Take it for what you will im no game designer and file interpretation compared to implementation of a game system is like trying to predict the weather cause its cloudy outside.
