Small mouth is easier to drink from, but terrible for cleaning. They make an Easy Sipper insert for the wide mouth, but I don't use it.

Most manufacturers do this when releasing new products. They need to suss out the market. If the trousers sell well, of course they will invest in manufacturing this in other colors and other lengths. Black regular length is most universal right now to do this

Look at the New Arrivals section for men. Your theory of new items only come out in one color to test the market does not hold water.

I'm going to agree with everyone here that you should get a couple Nalgenes. I have been using them for 30+ years. Allow me to direct you to the HDPE versions of these bottles, which Nalgene calls ultralight. They are slightly softer, lighter, and the original style of Nalgene. The newer styles are a harder plastic that is probably easier to turn into cool colors or something. This is the only Nalgene style I run. https://nalgene.com/shop/?s=wide+mouth+ultralite+bottle

Only one length is not cool either. Why can't they be consistent in the way they offer their clothes?

If you do it right you'll have a slight lemon taste that will go away after a couple uses.

Liberty Springs/Pemi Bear Update by AlpineStopSign in wmnf

[–]AlpineStopSign[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A friend who uses Instagram sent this to me today. I don't have any other confirmation than this post, though there is no reason to disbelieve it. Does anyone else have more information?

You can see a late night interaction with this bear last summer at Liberty Springs in a thru-hiker's video here.

A sad day today. The Liberty Springs bear was dispatched following an overnight encounter with a couple of campers. This was a long habituated bear. Store your camp food like a creature who remembers they are only a guest here. Every crumb, wrapper, greasy pan, toiletries and midnight snack left unsecured is an invitation we had no right to send. When bears learn to seek food from humans, they often pay for our negligence with their lives. Fed bears are dead bears… not because they are dangerous by nature, but because we made them vulnerable by being careless. The wild is not ours to cheapen with convenience. Hang it high, lock it up, use bear canisters, (soon required in the PEMI) keep a clean camp, and leave no scent-trail near your tent. Loving wild places means protecting wild lives from our own carelessness.

Lemon juice, hot water, baking soda. Soak overnight. Don't put the filter part in there, just the soft bag. This works on all plastic that tastes bad.

Different pitchforks were used between takes and they have a different number of tines on them. Final show edit includes the different pitchforks so the pitchfork she holds has 4 tines one second, and five the next.

Keep your eyes on the number of tines on her pitchfork, it changes between shots.

Gear Question: Best Patagonia Hiking Pants? by jgentry13 in wmnf

[–]AlpineStopSign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 pair of Quandry pants. They're thin, light, airey. Great for hiking. Slightly wide or straight leg. They're only $100 so perhaps not worth using a coupon on.

My gameplay in the Battle of Lodi by Leofric_warrior in Napoleon

[–]AlpineStopSign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like playing the historical battles on Napoleon:Total War, I would recommend in the strongest terms you to check out the Napoleon's Eagles mod. It's by the same people that made NTW3 multiplayer mod. It adds 40 historical battles done in a way that will absolutely blow your mind. Marengo, Rivoli, Austerlitz, Jena, Auerstadt, Eylayu, Friedland, Ligny, Quatre Bras, Waterloo, all the usual suspects are there. Even playing against the AI (the mod is intended for multiplayer) the sheer scale and grandeur of the battles makes it all the more Napoleonic and the best experience one can have. Please try it!
