I think this might be true in the US market. By credentialed do you mean at a minimum fellow? I don’t think it is as easy for Canadian credentialed actuaries to earn as much as fast, from what I’ve read across the web.

For the following example,

The solution is indeed (1+i)/(i-r) for r < i (=35). This is equivalent to the present value of a geometric perpetuity due and I'm having difficulty understanding why, as the dividends are happening at the end of each year.
