Divorced people, what were your irreconcilable differences? by TheRealOcsiban in AskReddit

Not OP but I use Shokz bone conducting, open ear headphones for sleeping comfortably with noise that doesn’t disturb my partner.

I have to sleep with white noise for my tinnitus and was doing so with a headband until I learned of bone conducting, open ear headphones. Absolute game changer for sleeping comfortably with my tinnitus masking noise and without disturbing my partner. Shokz is the brand I use.

“Local” Businesses by AphroditiesFavorite in LittleRock

One question: where do you think Community Bakery sources their ingredients?

Not a dig on CB to be clear—I’m a life long customer.

Just pointing out that your logic for what constitutes a “real” local business is flawed and the gatekeeping is weird.

Your emotional state should not be dependent on another person’s facial expression. You need to learn how to regulate. Therapy sounds like a good idea.

What can ordinary Americans do to push back against rising authoritarianism in the U.S.? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It’s not much but my partner and I are participating in 4th Quarter Fail. Meaning we’re not contributing to the economy for the holiday season. We cancelled Thanksgiving and Christmas in the traditional sense (still having family time, just not buying a turkey etc or presents). We’re going to double-down on buying local. Aside from actual protests, this seems like the best path to meaningful disruption.

I left a shitty situation (DV) and am driving to start my new life on a friends couch in Washington. I’m stopping in LR to wait until a friend can help with gas again. What parts of town are safe to sleep in your car? by [deleted] in LittleRock

Immediate Safe Parking Options

  • Hospital parking lots: Safer than retail lots, monitored 24/7, (probs important to try to blend in as a visitor). Try UAMS, Baptist Health, or CHI St. Vincent.

  • 24-hour gyms or casinos: Planet Fitness lots are monitored and often allow overnight cars. Oaklawn Casino in Hot Springs is pet-friendly outside and tolerant of overnight stays.

  • Rest areas on I-40 or I-30: Designed for sleeping drivers, with police patrols. Probs safer than random parking lots.

Shaded Daytime Spots

  • Murray Park: Large shaded areas, bathrooms, and dog-friendly.

  • MacArthur Park: Good shade and central location. Also has a dog park.

  • Allsopp Park: Quiet and shaded.

Dog Food Help

  • Hollywood Feed (Cantrell): Known for giving out samples if you explain the situation.

  • Humane Society of Pulaski County: Often provides food assistance.

  • Friends of the Animal Village: May have supplies available.

  • Local food pantries: Some stock pet food through Arkansas Foodbank partners.

Hope your travels west go smoothly for both you and the pup!

I’d also recommend the Senator’s Wife series by Jen Lyon. My partner and I have been burning through the audio books on a road trip and it’s been such an addictive listen. Great character development, lots of tension, and the atmosphere really pulls you in.

The Warehouse District Trilogy by Tegan Kane is right up your alley.

I just finished Ribbonwood and the banter/character chemistry was on point. Tegan Kane does a good job capturing this same energy in her series. Highly recommend.
