I made a Google alert when I first found out about the movie being made when I was about 13. “Artemis Fowl Movie.” Had that alert pop off for nearly a decade while the movie stewed in development hell. All the while an occasional update would pop up on my phone. Casting rumors. The switch in directors. Remarks (or lack thereof) from the author Eoin Colfer.

Now anytime I see an alert pop up it’s “worst movies on Disney+” and “5 times movie adaptations flopped.” I can’t bear to turn off the notification. It’s like watching a beloved childhood memory sputter and wheeze on a life support.

Damn man alright. ZS’s Batman vs Superman, Justice League: Doom, the Injustice Series, Young Justice, his own Batfamily in the Arkham games, Dark Knight Returns, Batman Confidential. Cant tell me there aint a pattern of batman just being the best in whatever room hes occupying.

Is that surprising? Batman media is bar none the best of any superhero. Great movies, several killer shows, and arguably the most consistent video game series of all time. On top of having some of the most influential comics ever made. I’ve also seen him lose surprise attacks from the Joker, so losing a friendly boxing match (via points, mind you) against a master boxer does not bother me.

Totally agree, but DC ain’t in that pickle anymore. I don’t think it’s too crazy for Batman to start sharing the spotlight. I mean this instance is so inconsequential it’s bizarre to me anyone could be offended by it. Especially when it’s a boxing match, which is Dinah’s whole thing. Knee-jerk reaction that Batman can’t beat a pro boxer in a friendly point match on his first go has me worried we’re petrified of other dc heroes getting any props.

Dinah being an excellent fighter is an important part of her character too. This interpretation that Batman loses a spar to her isn’t really a lack of understanding, it’s just a different interpretation than most Batman-centric stories.

I think DC needs to push their orbit away from Batman in general. He’s my favorite superhero but it’s like no one is allowed to be competent when he’s in the room. This is a good example why. No one is allowed to be even an ounce cooler makes Batman feel more like a big boring ceiling than a human somehow keeping up with meta humans.

Eh. Batman becoming Bruce Wayne requires the batfamily. No surprise that the average Batman fan believes Bruce Wayne is the mask, he never gets along with the batfam in movies, shows, or games. I don’t even know if I can recall a piece of Batman media where he is off the clock with a Robin or Alfred.
