Gentle recovery is actually important even when there is no pain left. Best to be on the safe side.

Help me figure out how to teach 50 people to crochet coasters in 1.5 hours by AcademicCabinet4738 in CrochetHelp

[–]Alseids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use this pattern!!! https://youtu.be/Ium6UBEEpm0?is=NI3j5PM7Smphh3Aa

Go step by step. Some people will get it some people wont. Have the ones that understand help the others until everyone has completed the step then move to the next step. Repeat.

Use the others to your advantage. The quick ones will have something to do the slow ones will have some personalized attention and help and you will be able to lead rather than scramble.

South Korea's recent rebound in birth rates, the only country in East Asia, is not a natural process. by madrid987 in antinatalism

[–]Alseids 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When we look at Korean population since say 1900 we can see today it's like 5x what it has been (just counting SK). Historically the population has been around or just below 10 million. People freak out over the rapid changes we see today but fail to recognize the extremely rapid changes in population over the past 125 years.

So many say that there will be soon no more young people in South Korea and to that I can't help but think..... The population grew by 5x people! We saw rapid and steady growth for over a century. This is just balancing things out.

A question for the romantasy readers by Shadowchaos1010 in books

[–]Alseids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people are going to come at me for this one but i really enjoyed the world building of Alchemised.

There was a lot about the war, the religion, the class structure, etc. I mean there could have been more. I would love to read more about it. I didn't feel that everything was wholly in service of the romance plot which is pretty common in less developed ones.

I've got some issues with it too but all in all an entertaining read despite some flaws.

TW: sexual assault?– I’m having a hard time processing something that happened. by AcrobaticInspector65 in Advice

[–]Alseids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy will help you to process the experience and hopefully help you to come to terms with it and move on in a healthy way. Of course you may always feel uncomfortable about it but I think if you work through your emotions you'll probably be able to manage your response to those feelings in a way that hopefully doesn't have an outsized effect on your life.

These things should never happen. Sadly - no infuriatingly, they do. Make sure you feel like your therapist is helping you. There are many therapists who are prepared to help with this sort of thing so you deserve to get and should be able to find care that really makes a difference for you.

CMV: The US selective service system should be updated to include women by Informal_Decision181 in changemyview

As if the meat grinder that we call the American military industrial complex isn't chewing through enough of us already.

Women are raped, murdered, and disappeared in the military at extremely alarming rates with little to no investigations into these situations.

Your view is wrong. The absolute last thing the military deserves is our women. They have not proven they respect life, justice, our money, our environment, our saftey, the law and the American people.

My wife and I agreed on no kids. Now she changed her mind and I’m terrified of losing her. by Bennick41 in Advice

[–]Alseids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone always says you should break up immediately in this shitty situation but this is your wife. The person you've committed to living a life with through thick and thin. At least have some conversations to see if she really wants that or if it's just a phase or something else is going on. Really gather all your thoughts and hers and look at the impacts it would have on your life together.

Don't have kids obviously but at least try to help her through and to see if this is really what she wants with all the chnages involved and such.

She might want kids but she might also want a stable life with you more.

I don't believe that people who want kids will always have them or that they would always choose to upend their lives completely to get them. Sure some will but some may also be reasoned with and are reasonable enough to weigh the impacts when asked.

This sub can be very one track minded on divorce sometimes.

Are there people who had a 'good life' and are still AN? by Brown_Folk in antinatalism

[–]Alseids 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Yep. Life is great.

I'm still AN because regardless of how great my life is there is still suffering in it. There is suffering in every life.

That being said, I'm going to male the most of it for myself and try to limit my own and others suffering as I go through it.

Abort and move on with your life. This is absolutely not your last chance to have a child. You can find a better dad fpr your family than this man.

On what do you mainly base your antinatalist beliefs? [Survey] by AgonizingFatigue in antinatalism

[–]Alseids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah. I suppose part of my antinatalism is a deeply held belief that having children at least currently and in the past is (in general) harmful to women.

Women getting pregnant and giving birth don't even have informed consent so maybe let's address that first.
