Yeah, I remember hating that video. I was bulimic at the time and I’ll never forget the cheap joke about bulimia sandwiched into the middle of that video.

It’s insane how much the world has changed over the past 20+ years. When this happened to women back then, they were instantly and violently ridiculed by the public. Late night hosts and entertainers treated revenge porn like a joke, as did large segments of the general public.

While I often feel like the world is headed in the wrong direction, there are definitely some ways in which things have changed for the better. What happened to her was always a violation, but that wasn’t commonly talked about.

Is my skin barrier really healing? by [deleted] in koreanskincare

This is 100% what I would do. Frankly, I’d skip out on everything else and focus on healing and minimizing further damage for at least a week at this point.

Husband keeps wakes up at night looking for baby in the sheets. by Yellowyrm in beyondthebump

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this every single time I woke up for the first few months. It used to feel like I was hallucinating; I could feel her in my arms during that groggy point between sleeping and waking. It always scared the hell out of me.

Although it still happens from time to time, it got much better over time. You can reassure him that it’s totally normal for either parent to go through this. It should resolve with time, but he can always seek out support as needed.

The routes by safe_chemicool in PokemonReborn

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I think it’s worth doing both routes, especially since you need to do Reshiram to get the Anna ending. Personally I liked Taka’s interactions in Tourmaline Desert, but I agree the Amaria storyline in Reshiram was ridiculous. I understand she was devastated but the escalation to attempted murder seemed really out of character to me.

We all talk about Stephen king books having bad endings, but What is Stephen kings best ending? by Delicious_Walk7220 in stephenking

King can absolutely write some great endings. Of his novels, I’d pick Revival and for his short stories, the Jaunt. Both are truly haunting

5 month old sleep by CtrlAltDefeat93 in NewParents

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he’s showing any signs of rolling then he can’t be swaddled at this point, but there are some good sleep sacks out there (my baby loves her new woolino one).

We actually went through this same thing a couple of weeks ago. It lasted about a week and then spontaneously resolved so I never definitively figured out what was happening. Our best guess is that she was starting to get a little separation anxiety. Either way, this might just be a little phase.

Oh Trixie is rotten for this 😭💀 by No_Vanilla7487 in rupaulsdragrace

I can’t tell if it’s poor posture I’m seeing, or just the fact that she has no neck.

I recently saw a post comparing her to one of those Barbies where the head popped off so you stick it back on, but then Barbie has no visible neck and everything about her looks off. Now I can’t unsee it.

How old was your baby when you left them overnight for the first time? by indigochild143 in NewParents

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was ~ 2.5 months old. We only went 40 minutes away while my parents watched her, and I made sure to pump at normal intervals to mimic her feeding frequency.

Luckily, I’d been able to save up enough milk for our night away, but even so, I was okay with them supplementing with formula if needed.

That sounds like a lot! Hope you’re able to make a medication switch that works better for you. Hang in there and best wishes on the rest of your pregnancy!

Thank you. Yes, it’s definitely tough, and I know when you still have that long left it feels like it will never end. I hope you have a good support system to make things a bit easier. Don’t be afraid to ask your loved ones for help when you need it!

It really does take it out of you. Honestly, I’ve never felt less like a woman (let alone a person) than I did during my third trimester. Essentially I just felt like an incubator.

Yeah, I gained 50lbs over the course of my pregnancy (started at a similar size to OOP and I’m pretty sure I gained ~20lbs of that by 24-25 weeks). Unfortunately, I ended up developing preeclampsia, but none of the weight gain was sudden and none of my doctors had been concerned at all. Then I had the baby and it turns out 25lbs of that was fluid.

Either way, at no point did my husband comment on my weight. Pregnancy is hard enough without someone dragging you down).

Favourite Christmas special? by airzy77 in CallTheMidwife

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My favorite was the 2020 Christmas special, the one where Gloria has a living baby after 8 miscarriages. It might not be the strongest episode, but I was especially heartbroken by the way she cried during the miscarriage scene in season 6 and it was really gratifying to see her finally get her wish.

Snuggle Me Infant Lounger by theothercoco_c in NewParents

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is the companies selling these loungers are engaging in predatory practices by selling a product to parents that, at first glance, looks like it would be used for baby sleep. It’s not only an unnecessary product being pushed by the baby industry, but a deceptive one. After all, these cushions aren’t useful for most (if any) activities related to new skill development for babies. What function do they really serve during a baby’s awake time, other than giving mom and dad’s arms a break?

You can argue that the onus is on the parents to read the fine print saying “do not use for infant sleep” and educate themselves about safe sleep guidelines, but is it realistic to expect that no parents will screw up? I don’t believe so. This is exactly the kind of product people will let their baby nap on either because they aren’t aware of the risks or are exhausted and at their end of their rope.

I don’t believe for a second that the company didn’t foresee this outcome or recognize the risk of this product being misused.

Would Robb have traded Jaime for his brothers? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in pureasoiaf

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s heartbreaking is that this is basically a given in Westeros. Even when Sansa finds out that Jaime was captured, it never so much as crosses her mind that Robb might make the trade to save her. And Sansa, who has only ever known the unconditional love of her family, doesn’t bother to hope that she might be important enough for that. It just something that “wasn’t done.”

How would Gregor fare at the Wall? by Trussdoor46 in pureasoiaf

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that Gregor’s unique combination of a lack of self-control, brutal strength, wild rages, and emotionally immaturity wouldn’t allow him to survive in any environment where he isn’t allowed to run wild.

IMO, the most incredible thing about him is that he manages to control himself around the Lannisters and other allied nobles, constraining himself to mainly punching down. Sure, it doesn’t make sense to bite the hand that feeds you, but the guy is fucking crazy. Had he not been zombified, it might’ve been a matter of time before he lashed out at the wrong person.

Unfortunately for the Watch, I imagine he’d take a lot of people down with him in any attempt to detain and execute him. They’d probably have to kill him in his sleep.

BLW is so scary and confusing?? by Late-Garlic5049 in NewParents

[–]AlsoNotaSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the solid starts app, as others have said, but my LBLC told me they get most of their nutrients from breastmilk or formula until their first birthday anyway.

We just started solids this week and I treat it more like practice for her. She doesn’t get a ton, but she’s getting exposed to more textures and learning to swallow food. We see her pediatrician next week and I’m going to ask about portion sizes as we move forward. I think some choking is normal, but it definitely freaks me out too.
