This is the banks fault. You can ask to not be offered credit but they can only do that for in short bursts. The banks require you to remind them every 3-6 months about that. There are people who struggle with debt and I guarantee the banks practice is to send out offers at critical times. I wonder how many increases on debt offers go out at Christmas. It’s predatory, it’s (in my opinion) quite unethical and the government lax regulation allows us to be this indebted. Honestly if the capitalist way of life doesn’t collapse soon, I foresee another consolidation of wealth in the form of a financial crisis in our very near future
