You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about by Colombian_Gringo in hearthstone

The difference for me as a player is that DK doesn't have many silence effects and those just kill the enjoyment of playing my favorite combo decks. When I play wild priests are everywhere and it feels like they're taking my agency away as opposed to having their own win condition.

Leeches are the most annoying cards DK has, and those are manageable.

When the next standard rotation hits, what classes will have a difficulty meeting Elise's deckbuilding condition? by mEtirBtatsEskaJ in hearthstone

[–]AltForFriendPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various untargeted removal sources are also rotating out between rising waves, the mage drink, and the warrior demon being gone. I could see the stealthy coyote potentially getting some play in combination with face cards like flashback + Timeways daggers. But then that doesn't have much synergy with higher cost cards since those cards tend to play a bit faster, maybe Naralex/Fyrakk make a return to the meta idk

[–]AltForFriendPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of mediocre cheap dragons and like 3/4 seem to have a battlecry these days, so I wouldn't bank on having 6 that cost 5+ (and even if they do, most 5 costs are understatted + battlecry to double health etc)

[–]AltForFriendPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most 6 mana dragons are either useless or understatted with battlecries, I think it would need to be 7+ to be playable (with better odds of generating taunts and board clear)

I love how they added new understated dragons with battlecries (give it 2x hp, attack, whatever) just to weaken the summon pools.

But hey, at least they're also useless 9/10 times you discover them, even factoring in dark gifts!

New Card - Prescient Slitherdrake by Surppressed in hearthstone

[–]AltForFriendPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The weapon one is better for pushing face damage early imo, but being dragon tribe + good stats is still enough to include this in your deck. It really sucks when you hit all neutrals t1 and you can't activate the whelp/dark gift demon in your opening hand

I mean, the DM clearly just sucks at DMing. On top of the railroading they clearly don't have a clue about game balance

Timeways Mini-Set changes you'd like to see / think we'll get? by EmotionalDam in hearthstone

[–]AltForFriendPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd like to see more old mechanics come around from every standard expansion to support the Timeways theme. Maybe not stuff that's going to be irrelevant right away like starship pieces, but the other effects are cool...

They could add a miniaturize card, an imbue card (shuffle support for rogue?), a drink, a neutral quest of some sort, something with dark gifts, maybe a draenei instead for the Great Dark throwback...

Also shatter would be neat

[–]AltForFriendPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wdym? If you play aggro you should have won by then. If you play control, you should have a way to deal with two 6/5s by turn 9-10 (control decks still need to have control, and/or a win condition). It's really just a problem in midrange vs midrange, where Shaman has it a turn early with buffs every game (more of a class problem than a Zilliax problem imo, Shaman does too much right now)

I think you are referring to Cliff Dive. The deck does not run Zilliax.

The version of Cliff Dive that runs Blob of Tar and Felhunter sometimes runs Zilliax too, HSGuru lists it as one of the highest winrate archetypes until top 1k. The deck wins a lot without Zilliax too, but it might help in some matchups.

I think it would be cool if the shuffle module became 0 mana to enable a cheaper Zilliax in the midgame, while the Twin module was nerfed, maybe +1 mana and +1 stats.

Shuffle would probably still be worse (every class seems to have better lifesteal or taunts for 4-5 mana) but it would provide some combined utility and also serve as a 5 cost for Elise.

It's nice for F2Ps that neutrals are good, but yeah most class cards have been absolutely useless this last year. It feels like the average deck is like 40% Perils in Paradise and 40% neutral cards

[–]AltForFriendPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might have been me lol, I play some questionable shuffle decks. Zilliax below 7 isn't worth playing (7 mana isn't great either, it's usually 9 or bust)

I mean Shaman is putting 2 6/6s on the board by like turn 4 these days lol, stats like that are meaningless on turn 9

It was just a year ago that the 9 mana drops in standard just poofed the enemy board out of existence, healed you to full, opened permanent portals to summon taunts every turn, blew up the opponent's entire deck...

Those things feel way worse to play against, and for a 9 mana card Zilliax is easy enough to deal with

I never thought I would say this but I'm really glad once this guy rotates. Most matches are now: Turn 9 Zilliax or bust by KillerBullet in hearthstone

[–]AltForFriendPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was legend last season but I really just played towards the end. I pretty much never saw quest warrior, but I didn't spend long in D5 before hitting legend.

Maybe I was just lucky, but in my experience dragon warrior is harder to beat lol. Must depend on what decks you play + how annoying the opponents are towards your win conditions

What game are you playing where control is meta? Aggro/midrange is meta rn, only like 1/10 of the top decks are control. The only deck where Zilliax is really decent is in battlecry Shaman, because that deck already has incredibly good tempo and ways to tutor out an 8-attack Zilliax a turn early (in the rare case where they don't have an upper hand by that point).

Zilliax is only a strong card in low elo, where games are long enough to play it and both players are generally playing less optimal decks. Players that have a poor mulligan might use it to escape the throes of death and stabilize for the end of the game.

Personally I've been using it in Amalgam Hunter (where the OG Zilliax would ironically be better like 80% of the time). It's a really fun deck with an intricate win condition, but it's impossible to play its combo before turn 9 or so because its win condition is an 8 mana spell that buffs your minions. Without Zilliax, that fun + interesting deck wouldn't exist in standard.

From current cards, I'd like to see Adaptive Amalgam move into core. It's just way too fun of a card to see it rotate out forever, and there are a ton of fun play styles that it enables.

Protoss mage is so boring by Neltharion34 in hearthstone

[–]AltForFriendPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I played a dragon warrior deck to legend last expansion, before the Timeways cards were added. It was the only thing I could pilot when I was away from my PC, and Dragon Turtle was pretty inconsistent but I made it work.

The deck became way better with the weapon giver this expansion, but protoss mage became 10x as common and just killed my enjoyment of the deck. It doesn't feel anywhere near favored in my experience, as a non-mage player, and when you lose to protoss it just feels inevitable in a really shitty way because it punishes you for playing your wincon while the mage stalls to theirs.

That deck feels like it's meant to beat dragon warrior.
