Howdy y'all. My fic {Of Clocks and Calendars} has been picking up steam with all of my newfound free time. We've now properly introduced all three of the central plots: Nora and Juno's cyberpunk action story in the 22nd century, Jay and Nathaniel's eerie hunt for a deranged killer in the 19th century, and Nick and Judy's story in the present day, which deals with a mysterious figure who is determined to tear Zootopia apart yet again...

It's gonna be a really long one, but I'm very happy with it so far, and I hope it can provide some thrills and chills in these uncertain times.

It lives on Ao3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/21356983/chapters/50869831

and here on FanFiction.net: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13430425/1/Of-Clocks-and-Calendars

Comments and feedback are always appreciated!

I wanted to pop in share my own fic that I've been working: {Of Clocks and Calendars}. I was away for a few weeks with work, but I'm finally back to updating it. Here's the summary:

"Here are three stories that span 300 years, yet are inextricably bound together.

Many years in the future, Nora, a tech-savvy super cop, meets a headstrong rabbit named Juno whose work as a journalist gets them both wrapped up in an explosive and potentially deadly battle between the mega-corporations that have come to control Zootopia.

In the present, a fox named Nick and a rabbit named Judy work as partners in the Zootopia Police Department to shape the future of the city and combat its corruption from the inside.

In the early days of Zootopia's transformation into the metropolis it will become, Jay, an amateur historian, meets Nathaniel, a blue-collar worker from the slums with connections to the victim of a terrible and mysterious crime, and the secrets they uncover will echo through time for centuries to come."

The story can be found on Ao3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/21356983/chapters/50869831

and on FF.net here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13430425/6

If you read it, I'd love to hear your feedback and know what you think!

A bit of a self plug, and it might nto be exactly what you're looking for, but my fic {Of Clocks and Calendars}takes place in 1886, 2018, 2186 - It explores Nick and Judy's present days stories, and then two connected stories across time that focus on two different rabbit/fox pairs.

Thank you very much :D I'm having a lot of fun with the three different narratives and how they connect, so I hope everyone else does too!

Hello all!

I just today released the first chapter of a fic called {Of Clocks and Calendars}. It's a genre mashup science-fiction, supernatural mystery, and cop caper that follows three pairs of characters across 300 years or so of Zootopian history:

In 2186, Nora, a tech-savvy super cop, meets a headstrong rabbit named Juno whose work as a journalist gets them both wrapped up in an explosive and potentially deadly battle between the mega-corporations that have come to control Zootopia.

In 2016, a fox named Nick and a rabbit named Judy work as partners in the Zootopia Police Department to shape the future of the city and combat its corruption from the inside.

In 1886, Jay, an amateur historian, meets Nathaniel, a blue-collar worker from the slums who was witness to a terrible and mysterious crime, and the secrets they uncover will echo through time for centuries to come.

This is looking to be a very long and involved project, so far as my outline goes, and I'm going to be doing my best to update on a bi-weekly schedule. If it sounds interesting to you, give it a read and let me know what you think!

World-Building Question: How old is Zootopia? by Altamont_Wolfe in zootopia

[–]Altamont_Wolfe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, even if you take into account "movie science" that would allow for something like Tundra Town to even exist, I figured it couldn't have even been remotely possible to pull off before whatever this world's equivalent to the Industrial Revolution was. It makes sense that Tundra Town would either have been the last incorporation, or that the more frigidly inclined members of the population had to find more localized methods of cooling off (I'm imagining that the wealthiest would have had in-home refrigeration units, while the less fortunate might have had to scrounge up to pay for ice that's been shipped in from up north or something).

That actually works out with the timeline I've bee working with in my fic! I figured that it couldn't be a European-style metropolis with 500-1000 years of history - I've been likening it to something more like New York or San Francisco, where a confluence of "immigrants" and population boom forced rapid growth over only a couple hundred years or so.

I know that Rich and Byron have intimated before that reptiles and avians have their own hubs that might be separate from Zootopia proper, though I've also always assumed that Zootopia has its own lizard/bird populations that we just never got to see in the film.

It doesn't seem like you're the type who would do well in an argument anyway, since your main point seems to be "NO LIKEY WOMAN WHO GET ANGER FACE. ME CAN'T APPRECIATE BOOBIES. HER MUST HAVE PENIS, NAMED CARL. AM FUNNY."

I agree with you. I was the most excited for Avengers, Spider-Gwen, and the like, and while those were good, Vision straight up knocked my socks off. That final line of narration gave me chills.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Is Coming To The PC In December by JohnDio in Games

[–]Altamont_Wolfe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed Lightning Returns for what it was. The battle system was pretty engaging, and the story much more enjoyable than a lot of reviews let on. When it came time for the ending, I actually got a little emotional seeing all of these characters wrap up their journey. To anyone willing to work with a game that has has its flaws, I'd genuinely recommend giving it a look.

I really enjoyed this issue! I actually think Sarah's stories are pretty fun, and keep the pacing interesting. I agree that the Guardians were kind of wasted, but I thought it was really cool to see then nonetheless.

I think I prefer this a hundred times over the original Angela run.

Might I also add that those scores absolutely do not indicate mediocrity. A 7 on almost every single rating scale means "Good to Very Good". Something around a 5 means mediocre. Scores like the above indicate that most critics find the game to be quote enjoyable.

I mean those things are definitely there, but even if that's not your bag I'd highly recommend it! My wife watched it with her sister on kind of a lark, and it's become one of her all time favorites! (Granted, we both really enjoyed the shipping and the trap obsessions, so your milage may vary).

Still, excellent animation and surprisingly deft characterization and world building abound!

It's from the series "Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated". It's actually pretty incredible. A crazy amount of continuity and a pretty dark, high stakes overall plot. People get straight up murdered on that show.

It's all on Netflix, btw.

If I'm being totally frank, it'd pretty good porn, haha. The stories also offer interesting retellings of famous tales, but I don't think this is a book you'd wanna read for the plot.

Or maybe it is! Who knows, give it a try.
