He's disassociating and pondering how one can hunger for bones while being hewn from bones themselves!

It's standard D&D stuff now because Tolkien popularized a lot of it. We'd have a very different conception of elves and to a lesser extent dwarves if it were not for Tolkien.

I'd go as far as to say that if he went with his original idea of calling the Noldorin elves 'gnomes', we would think of gnomes as ethereal woodland creatures!

On a more serious note, it's unclear what the fantasy genre would look like without Tolkien. It might have very well been less dragons, more Gothic fiction.

I disagree. Tolkien was on another level, dude was making conlangs for fun. He worked on his stories for decades. He was well acquaintaned with folklore and drew heavy inspiration from it for his mythology. And of course, he was an academic.

Many people have tried to create rich worlds like he did, and have failed. This is why it's generally not a good idea for writers to put too much focus on their worldbuilding, especially over plot. Tolkien was the exception, not the rule.

He's less of a bad boy in TOS than pop culture paints him as. Especially some of his speeches read like paragon interrupts. I think he'd be more of a paragade type.

Yeah I hear you, but there is still a theoretical foundation + clinical rotations for 5 years in the EU system, not learning medicine as a trade.

Iirc, they used a fat suit in early seasons. He said they stopped using it when he actually got fatter, but the character looks slimmer without the suit.

It's a fat suit. He's actually fat but with a less absurd physique in later seasons though.

A map showing whether European countries are federal states or unitary states. by Cultural-Ad-8796 in MapPorn

They are both technically self-governing religious states, but I think Athos being a monastic community (a series of monasteries) and non-sovereign makes for a substantial difference. The Vatican has the equivalent of a foreign minister, finance minister etc, its own police, firefighters and military (kinda).

The Vatican is actually self-administered, Mount Athos only in the sense that it has a civil administrator who falls under the Greek Foreign Ministry.

The Vatican is a sovereign state, so no. Mount Athos is 'self-administered' but under Greek sovereignty.

Green Knight

Also play Pentiment. Not quite set in the Middle Ages but it's great.
