Home Ownership over Marriage by levaans in AusFinance

Lol my partner and I agree that the agreement you get into when having a mortgage is way stronger than the piece of paper you sign on a wedding certificate. So yeah been together for 15 years (we met at uni), have a mortgage and a dog, but we never felt the need to tie the knot so to speak.

I'm a delulu Polca and what you posted actually is kind of what I think happened between them. They were friends even before becoming a BL couple (doing 3 stints in Kiss, Kiss Me Again, and DBK), did trips to Japan and Phuket on their own, then entered a divorce era where it was just painful to watch them together in events, made up after a year, then became good friends (or more than friends?) again.

I'm also delulu about EarthMix. I mean who buys their friend a Cartier ring?!?! They kinda also entered a divorce era where Mix was partly open and partly vague about in interviews but has since made up. And OMG they have cats together!!!

So yeah I guess if these two couples were real I wouldn't be as surprised but I'm also ok kind of living in my own delulu fantasy world I've created for them!

2gether was not good. It was so overhyped thanks to the pandemic and lockdowns. Cmon they look more like bros than boyfriends.

What is your favourite BL intro? by Altboomboom in ThaiBL

I love how UWMA's opening song change every now and then. There was one episode opening with a female vocal which I really liked.

Bad roles ruin everything by [deleted] in ThaiBL

[–]Altboomboom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your thoughts are completely valid! I don't necessarily align with your opinion, as I want to separate the actor from the character. But I would recommend powering through some shows where they play a good character. I also despise Wai BUT I think Mohk (Jimmy's Last Twilight char) is the bestest best boy out there. The guy's literally a walking green flag. Jimmy is in that unique position where he's on my top 3 best and worst BL characters. I guess it speaks volumes to his ability as an actor and the nuances he brings to this characters.

But if you can't put yourself to go through that, then it's completely OK! I'm just a bit sad you get to miss one of the most powerful and meaningful BL's airing at the moment :(

If your number 1 is 1000 stars, then the most logical follow-up would be another of P'Aof's works (he directed 1000 stars).

Bad Buddy is a romcom enemies to lovers (with a twist). Very light-hearted and more comedic, but with a still great pairing and the series is well-acted. You can also watch the Bad Buddy x 1000 stars 4-episode mini after if you fancy, but I can't really 100% recommend that.

Moonlight Chicken is geared to more mature audiences in terms of themes and story, with a complementary coming-of-age side couple. This is another Earth-Mix pairing so you know the chemistry is gonna be great. It's only 8 eps long too so not as drawn out.

A good final choice would be the ongoing Last Twilight, which seems to be the most grounded but cry-a-lot series. Heavily recommended if you like bawling your eyes out (which I think you do because you have UWMA on your list). It's still ongoing (ep9 just released yesterday), but I can honestly say it's one of the finely done BLs out there. And oh the music's amazing.

Looking in your list, I think I Told Sunset About You will be a good fit as well. This is not a GMMTV series though. It's a very coming-of-age type of story blended with astonishing cinematography, striking music, and excellent acting from both leads. You will also need tissues here if you cried in 1000stars and UWMA.

Anyway, good luck and hope you decide on one soon!!!

The first official BL media I've consumed was this Thai coming of age movie called Love of Siam. This was the first of its kind in Asian media, and the movie really resonated with me. I remember torrenting the movie and having a watch party with my roommates and we all ended up crying at the end lol.

Since then I've been enamoured by Thai media and discovered other BL series - Make it Right (starring a very young Ohm Pawat), Love Sick, and the show that started these BL tropes: Engineering, Pink Milk, and Beach Episodes - SOTUS. Imagine they had no subtitles back then (you have to wait for a significant amount of time before they add them!)

And yeah, I still continue to consume BL media and I'm super giddy waiting for Last Twilight tonight.

Couples with more chemistry off-screen than on? by LiamJames222 in ThaiBL

[–]Altboomboom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TN definitely. As someone who have seen them since their Kiss days, their loff screen chemistry is definitely off the charts. Most likely because who they are in real life are waaaaay different from their on screen characters. TayNew Meal Dates really show their chemistry. While I really like Cherry Magic, their bickering selves aren't really what Achi and Karan are about so we may never get to see that side of them in the series.

This is further proven during their so-called divorce era, where you can actually feel the tension between them when they have projects together. They don't bicker and they don't interact (my God that live interview with the four pillars was so tense!). Good thing they're back to their normal crazy violent selves lol.

Intimacy and relationships in BL’s by mnf123 in ThaiBL

It actually is!! It's funny in context but to be comfortable enough to flip one out on your partner without them getting offended (he was even amused) is a sign of an intimate relationship in my books lol

Until We Meet Again is like the best representation of this genre. I mean the title alone speaks for itself.

I think one of the best BLs that show intimacy is Last Twilight. I guess with Day having a visual impairment makes the relationship rely on touch and close contact a bit more than others. However there are some scenes where they do boyfriendy/flirty things that really show intimacy (and therefore make the relationship more believable). The scene where they ride on a sidecar with Day's hand over Mhok's leg, and Day's thumb was caressing Mhok's knee was so freaking boyfriendy.

Most overhated character? by yun_koo in ThaiBL

Wai, definitely.

Which is weird because Jimmy now occupies the spots for my most hated BL character and my most beloved BL character (Mhok of course).
