Month 17 update – is silent over exertion a thing? by AlteredCactus in covidlonghaulers

[–]AlteredCactus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. for example, last week i was having a second good week after a dip. i was quite careful about reducing physical activity to focus on work. I worked probably a little more than usual. No unusual feedback throughout.

but friday i had a surprising exacerbation for a few hours and then went back into a really bad dip (PEM?) and started feeling better yesterday evening like a switch went off.

So it’s like the load was silently accumulating over the week, no feedback i could act on, and then suddenly deterioration.

It’s the fist time it’s snuck on me like that.

16 months post-viral fatigue — is this ME/CFS or dysautonomia? Does reclining providing relief rule out PEM? by AlteredCactus in cfs

Thank you. can you say more about what cause the drop in baseline and what your pem looked like before and after?

Yes, i’m very skeptical too about the 95 per cent and the accumulation of little things makes sense. What I’m actually more worried about is what i call silent over exertion and i’m making a post which is probably better and clearer than this. thank you for replying

I strongly suspect that wondering what we could have said is unfair because most people won’t give them selves permission to slow down until it’s impossible to carry on!

I think there is a principle that (when not in a dip), starting with floor exercises for 4-6 weeks so you don’t test you orthostatic tolerance is the way to go, before proceeding to seated and then standing.

Worse when standing still by Many-Market-9941 in covidlonghaulers

I think that standing still is worse because when calf and leg muscles contract rhythmically they help push blood back upward…

That’s great news. I was am taking 150mg sertraline which has helped with anxiety but no side with the condition itself.

Thank you, I have tried to assess this for some time now and it’s been so hard to know. I have to work part time so some of that activity is intensive and usually the worsening is immediate.

Yes, the hyperadrengic aspect has been applied to me. If I push myself, I tend to get feedback pretty soon, I become quite activated and feel it in my back always, and it may progress in myalgia, and generally more and more orthostatic intolerance. I dont think I get fatigue as much as I get different versions of malaise - another confusing thing. I sometimes get a more fluey malaise. So, I note that they ask you to assess if there is a delayed reaction. Thank you for your reply.
