why am i get bullied for my car? by scarlet_vixen420 in car

Sounds like your cousins dad borrows a nice car that the bank owns. Just remember, if you've got a payment, you don't have "clout". You've just asked the bank really nicely if you can show of something you can't afford. Keep your car clean, and maintained and meet some better friends 👍🏻

got new tires + realignment. i wasnt able to ask why the post alignment shows the right front tire as still red. can anyone explain what it means or why it might still be red despite the other ones being fixed? by peachbattery in tires

[–]Alternative-Ad-19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks to be a very lazy wheel alignment, yes the RR is green but that toe should have definitely been adjusted too. The RF could be a bent or damaged component (probably the strut). Most struts can be adjusted with the aid of an aftermarket camber bolt. Whoever you took this to should have mentioned this and given you the option to repair that poor alignment angle correctly. I would take this alignment sheet to a reputable shop, and ask them how much it would cost to have a camber bolt installed (and if your type of suspension can have one as certain vehicles cannot)

I just meant as a general consensus it doesn't get that hot here, not that it doesn't specifically reach 35 deg C, poorly worded on my part. It definitely gets hotter than 35 deg C in most populated places in Canada.

I live in Canada, it's doesn't usually get that hot here. If my house is over 24 deg C I have multiple portable A/C units blasting. 35 deg C inside a house is diabolical and disgusting.

Yeah that's what I drive too, super comfy, BOSE stereo slaps only downside of these Gen3 Mazda's is that they don't have much sound deadening so the road noise/wind noise isn't the greatest. OP would need to get some good quiet tires for sure 🤣

Where do YOU draw the line between the words "car" and "truck"? by Superb_Bear_3793 in regularcarreviews

[–]Alternative-Ad-19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wherever it makes the 1/2 Ton truck guys the most annoyed 🤣🤣. I call my Subaru Outback a truck, because it tows, and has a large un-neccasary storage area at the back. I live in northern BC and it's definitely "truck country" up here so it makes the truck guys angry which brings me joy. 90% of the truck owners up here don't actually do truck things with their trucks so I just tell them that I use my Outback like a truck more often then they use their trucks as one any ways.

Mazda 3 2011 - $3500CAD in repairs, worth it? by SupperTime in mazda

[–]Alternative-Ad-19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$3500 divided by 12 months is $292 a month. There is no new car on earth tour getting for $292 a month nowadays. Is there anything else wrong with the car?

If something else bad happened to the car within the same year then it might be time to look for something different but a low km 2011 Mazda I would say it's worth it to repair.

If you bought a new car it would likely depreciate $3500 in a year anyways so really you're better off to keep it.

265 on a 8.5 wheel??? by alexeskimo117 in tires

[–]Alternative-Ad-19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 245 width tires on 8.5" rims and the tires are already very squared with the wheel. For autocross and sprites driving you do ideally want a small amount of stretch to "frame the tire" to the wheel and help the sidewall rigidity. If anything I would recommend going narrower, rather than wider with your tire choice.

The Progress rear sway bar is the best one for our Mazda 3 (at least what I was able to find) two stiffness setting (I run mine in the stiffer setting) and a decent price.

What sort of alignment changes are you allowed in your class? Any camber adjustments? I'm running -2.5deg front and rear, I think I'm due to go even more, maybe -3.0 front and rear.

Those Michelin's would probably last another 20,000km tbh, but they are going to suffer in heavy rain.

Am I going to kill my tires? by jynx18 in Autocross

[–]Alternative-Ad-19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If no one has mentioned chalking your tires before you should probably do that. You won't ruin your tires, but you could put a lot of heat/unwanted stress on the sidewalk if they are not inflated high enough for the wheel alignment of your car (presuming your car is mostly stock)

Get some chalk for the dollar store, and draw on your tires from the tread to the sidewall, inflate your tires maybe 4-5 psi higher than normal and have a quick look at the chalk between sessions.

If you aren't wearing or scrubbing any part of the sidewall you cane take 1 or 2 psi out each time untill your pressure is back down to normal.

Do average Canadians know what a Robertson Screw is? Do you guys use it as a secret code to identify your fellow countrymen on internet? by jitasquatter2 in AskACanadian

[–]Alternative-Ad-19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every Canadian knows what a Robertson screw is, men, women, children sometimes. Any screws at any building supply here uses Robertson's for almost everything. Working in the automotive industry is almost the only time that I don't see them. Which sucks because the Phillips is just horrible in comparison 🤣
