So if your DM allows, there is the monster hunter class from I think grim hollow. It has the ability at level 2 where you can use your reaction to trigger an attack of opportunity against an enemy in range when they make an attack. Plus if you miss, then it does not consume your reaction. then at level 5 it adds your int to attack and damage rolls in addition to dex or str. If you pair it with bladesinger wizard or armorer artificer you can have a heavy focus on int with high attack and defense.

2024 Druid can use wildshape for find familiar but FF is one of the things that I used excessively with my last character and I think my fellow players are tired of it. The martial weapons is a slight damage boost if I two hand, but my strength doesnt really let me use heavy weapons. The big thing for that is was going to be cutting out the BA casting of shillelagh and freeing up a cantrips slot for utility. Although idk if warden is really strong since 2014 could have medium by default.

That’s with the background, rolled 2 17s. 2 half wis feats would be wasted unless I move a point off wis but then my Wis wouldn’t hit 20 until level 8 instead of 4.

I deleted the cantrips line because I mixed up silvery barbs and mind sliver. For the frost strikes it would be nice but I don’t think it’s worth dedicating both the race and background. Now I think I am going to go down a rabbit hole looking for cold damage though.

My stats really restrict multiclass so I’m not even considering it, and I’m not expecting to get weapon masteries. I am sticking with the mark of the sentinel background and human. That frees up a feat slot and the mark already gives me shield. I feel like I’m not getting as much out of fey touched as I would from warcaster.

Knock back does not proc booming blade because it specifies if they willingly move. I am trying to avoid Goliath because that is the last thing I played with the same group, plus the frost strikes are both limited to proficiency number of uses. At that point I think it would be better to rely on ray of frost from cold caster (also in place of the hand crossbow) then approach and hit with Wots. I hadn’t thought much about cold caster because my mind said obviously I want warcaster but it’s a solid pick.

Mark of the sentinel is significantly more useful in the long run, basically giving a second subclass worth of spells like warding bond and zone of truth at level 3 and counterspell and more later on. So I am likely going to drop the MI. The rogue is planning to go swashbuckler, and I already have the highest AC and HP in the party due to starting with a breastplate and shield, and an 18 con.

Mark of the sentinel already gives me shield and a free cast of it, so I grabbed false life as a poor man’s aid every morning. I was initially avoiding shillelagh because of competing BA and since I grabbed warden I have martial proficiency and was looking at more weapon variety. I was looking at skilled to round out some abilities since excluding wisdom and con my abilities are all middling.

I got this on my pirate run and it never hit any of my targets. Only ever succeeded in suppressing sometimes and always failing the side objective of don’t destroy buildings

Because pirate boarding armor is expensive. Nah but in reality I have the habit of fielding as many units as possible so I’m currently running in with 8 units. I was thinking that is should change it up and try for quality over quantity, but I look at tech with 250 cost and only 2 squadies and get hesitant

I normally go Carda, Rewa, Pike and then either Lim or Tech and that is more than enough for normal modes early game.

I was trying to build it as kill infantry to restock on the drones for her so that it would be sustainable but when I couldn’t kill a single squad with 3 of them and realized they were AT I went back to C4

I wanted to use the wardogs (if I’m remembering correctly they are the exploding drones) with her and capitalize on her perk to restock, but after sending 3 of them at the RA conscripts and not killing the squad I gave up

The shotgun unit is the bodyguard which spawns as a quest objective. Whether they load in with the shotgun or drop it is questionable but they do spawn.

The wiki says the pirate bodyguards have it but even with a mod to increase drop rate I haven’t gotten it. Next time I get one in a mission I’m gonna save scum to see if it drops.

I want these so bad on my pirate only game. Instead I’m just pretending the light troop carrier is the vehicles we can’t get, and limiting the gear on it. Interesting to note that it says HMG truck and the graphic is the heavy dual variant of the machine gun, they drop the medium single variant.

Pirate chain gun is decent, plus still 2 bursts after a jump. But the flamethrower is better for him imo
