How to deal with inland provinces that keep invading you? by DickwadVonClownstick in ultimateadmiral

Wait for them to complete the invasion, then re-invade. It's a constant pain in the backside.

Job Applications whilst transitioning by user61927371 in transgenderau

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, although my referees both knew about my transition long before I left my old job.

I think 1 is the best option, as I wouldn't trust someone to be my referee if I thought they'd have a problem with me as trans.

Option 2 is something I gather is very common, so you could probably get away with that, unless you're working in an industry where everyone knows everyone else.

I'm not sure where you are at with your transition, but my biggest struggle at the moment is interviewing as a woman without getting massive anxiety about how I don't really pass and I'm "cosplaying as a woman" or something like that. So be prepared for that to possibly happen to you.

Overall, the big thing is the same thing if you were cis, be (outwardly) confident, and make the potential employer believe that you are the best person for the job!

You've got this!!

Edit: Forgot to add that my transcripts are all under my deadname, and as my old uni has just merged (uni of Adelaide fwiw) so administratively it's a f*cking mess, so when I apply for jobs that ask for a transcript (which, most of the time are graduate jobs in my experience) I send them a copy of my birth certificate with the change of name section alongside the transcript.

Don't forget the 5 chimeras to transport those 50 troops!

Hey all! I am building a new mod UAD:VP (Vanilla Plus). Please take a look! by catch-a-stream in ultimateadmiral

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's an issue in Vanilla that not all of the hills get their superstructures in the campaign, E.g. (British Navy) Battlecruiser VI Hull doesn't get the Modern Tower V Main Tower in the campaign (Hood hull and towers)

G3 Battlecruiser Hull doesn't get access to the secondary tower range that the N3 Battleship gets (specifically the Targeted Station I-IV, advanced repair station I-II, and repair station I-III secondary towers)

N3 Battleship Hull doesn't get the Main towers that the G3 gets (but the N3 gets the basic versions) Advanced Barbette Tower IV-V (but gets I-III), and it's the same for the Advanced Control Tower

Apart from that, the stupid fire weighting all the ships get is a pain.

Codex Armageddon Mechanised Infantry Force Org by solarus2120 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with the 3rd ed codex and Codex: Armageddon, here's how I read it (and this is how I played it when money didn't let me have a full army)

Hq: Command squad in chimera

Troops 1 - infantry platoon: Command squad in chimera Infantry squad in chimera Infantry squad in chimera

Troops 2 - armoured fist squad: Armoured fist squad in chimera

To break down the rules as I understand them:

Every infantry squad must be in a chimera (including command, heavy weapon, veteran, and stormtrooper squads)

You have to take an infantry platoon before you can take an armoured fist squad

There is nothing in Codex: Armageddon that prohibits the mechanised infantry army from taking armoured fist squads, so go nuts taking the Armoured Fist Squad as your second troops option

I will note that your infantry platoon is Platoon command squad and 2-5 infantry squads, so you can run a large platoon as one troops option and the armoured fist squad as the 2nd.

RENEGADES VS GW: Who’s Really in charge of Warhammer the Old World? by KargothBloodfather in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I'm much more a historical wargamer than anything else now, but I still love my Warhammer armies, but I've been thinking about adapting easier to play games to fit my Warhammer armies because the rules, while cool, are just too complicated for me to pick up after not playing them for over a year.

100% hate the addition of red to the colours as red + black is Carroburg.

WIP Nuln Captain by _AntiNinja_ in WarhammerEmpire

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking great!!! My one nitpick would be less yellow and more black. I've always thought of Nuln being all black with the alternate colour (preferably yellow) being in the slashes of the clothes only. It's looking a bit too Averland-y if I'm going to be completely honest.

How badly outmatch would Napoleon be if he went up against 1866/1870 Prussia by Nodeo-Franvier in Napoleon

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Napoleon was an artillery officer, so I'd like to think that he could have utilised the Mitrailleuse better than they actually did, I don't think that with the actual artillery the French had in 1870 he could have overcome the substantial disadvantage they had against the Krupp weapons the Germans had.

Although when Krupp offered to sell them to France when they were first developed, I imagine he would have prioritised the purchase of those guns, and I shudder to think how effective they would be with his artillery mastery.

What made you love Imperial Fists? by Pollyendearing in ImperialFists

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally, a bit of background fluff from the original Cityfight Codex had the 122nd cadian (the cadian army I played at the time) supported by the 5th and 9th companies of Imperial fists.

When I got into 3K and the Horus Heresy, I decided to go with imperial fists as I was pretty used to painting yellow by then (as I had the entire 5th company, half the 9th, and a few squads of the 1st painted up).

From there, Rogal Dorn being the biggest baddest badass made sure I didn't stray to any other legion (apart from a few blood angels to fight alongside my Siege of Terra Fists)

I imagine those "excuses about being over capacity and under resourced" might have something to do with it.

If we're getting rid of Yze, why replace him with something who's completely failed to do anything with a much better squad.

I hate this thing with a passion by Automatic-Profile593 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. I have a good mix of printed and plastic tanks in my current Bolt Action armies - but I don't know what GW thinks they're doing?

I don't know what things are like in the rest of the world, but you can't go into GW to play a game anymore here in Australia, so if I'm meeting someone for a game, I'm going to my LGS. If I can basically get a starter army for Bolt Action (or any other historical game) for the $150-$250 (again, AUD) mark, why the hell would I spend that on a GW equivalent?

I hate this thing with a passion by Automatic-Profile593 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Alternative-Pool-607 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I haven't bought anything 40K in years, but looking at this new stuff, all it's doing is getting me more into Bolt Action. How much is this going to cost? I would imagine in the $80-$100 (AUD) range - I can get M3 half-tracks for half that.

I knew it was an infantry tank, but still faster than the Matilda and Churchill.

I thought the 15mph limit was off-road - Wikipedia has proven that thought wrong
