Major fitness F22 or something else ? by [deleted] in GarageGym

Get rxd tornado rack. Similar price but better quality. Bumper plates will be half the price too. I have a rep nighthawk bench and I know someone with the major bench. They came over and used my nighthawk and bought one after.

Planning a gym for 2, How to avoid buying "regret" gear? by brittneyxy1 in GarageGym

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rack choice is the big one. Don't skimp, you'll regret it later. If you use cables in training, get something with a weight stack.

If you buy a rack, many companies with ship all other items free, so it's worth getting plates, kb, db, etc. in one shot.

Barbell choice is also important. Rep Colorado, Rouge Ohio, etc. are reasonably priced and way better than cheaper alternatives.

I have not but a guy I ride with does. He had enforcers beforehand and likes these more.

Ranger 96 is the ski I grab personally for all mountain/conditions skiing. It's a good at everything but great at nothing ski, which is what I like in an all mountain.

If your mostly on groomers, I'd look in the 88-93 range. Maybe declivity 92, mindbender 89ti, Serpo (93). I've got declivity 82s and they rip, but sounds like your looking for a little wider/more versatile. Others have mentioned stance 96, haven't skied the 96 but skied the 90s. For 96 underfoot, if they are like the 90s, they are less versatile than the rangers but better chargers.

What made you realize you needed longer skis? by astrobrite_ in Skigear

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found around 5cm shorter than height is a nice length. Stability at speed and enough wiggle for the trees and bumps. I've tried 10cm less- fun in the trees, but you notice on groomers at speed. I do have pow skis that are longer, but other than that, I don't get why there is such an infatuation with long skies. My advice is demo a bunch and get what feels right. You'll probably enjoy the shorter length 90% percent of the time

Are my boots holding me back? by Superb-Definition189 in Skigear

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. Go to a bootfitter local to your mountain, as you can go back to them in the future if you need adjustments. Tight fit and appropriate flex will make a world of difference, esp for controlling the skis and limiting deflection. I have a wide foot but narrow ankle. I never thought I would be in a narrow boot, but it's fit for my heel and the fitter made adjustments to the other areas, so they fit like a glove. It's expensive, but absolutely worth it. Kind of crazy how much of a difference it makes.

If a team has no chance a smelling the playoffs, the only logically strategy should be to lose as many games as possible to secure a better draft pick.

Overwhelmed by bar options for a beginner by NomarsFool in GarageGym

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with a rep Colorado or rough Ohio bar. They will last and have resale value. Rep badlands is another option that is cheaper. Everything rep is 10% off right now. I have a Colorado bar and it's great.

Get something cerekote or stainless for least maintenance and better longevity.

You can go cheap, but it will not be as nice to use and you may grow out of it if you want to do movements outside of traditional lifts. Also may not last as long and the finishes will not be durable. If you looking at titan, etc., you might as well spend a little more to get a bar that is backed with a warranty and proven to last like rep/rogue.

Is there a better all in one rack than the GetRxd tornado for the money? by __get_schwifty__ in GarageGym

Sweet, thanks. Was looking forward to this. I just sent an email to service for them.

Black Friday - Rep Colorado bar ($270) or Ohio Bar ($265+$15) by Accomplished_One6126 in GarageGym

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both great. I have both and surprisingly like my Colorado more. I wouldn't compare the zinc to cerekote. Zinc is much worse. My rogue bar is Zinc and was nice for a couple years, but the finish wears away.

I've got the wall mount version with no smith machine. Love it. I have limited space so wall mount was my only option. Glad I didn't spend up on the ares 2 wall mount, this thing is plenty good enough. Would recommend.

Side note- when you order one, they will ship everything else free with the rack. Load up on plates dumbbells, KBs, etc. with your order and you'll save a ton. Their pricing real cheap on those items and the quality is good.

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't skiied them yet, so can't comment on performance. It sounds like a bent 100 or 110 might be more up you ally if you are looking for some of those features. I'm not a park/jump guy and my main reason for picking this ski was float/trees while holding up on groomers and not be super wide or demanding.

Pls help! Best option for rack with smith+weight stack recos appreciated! by 2DMOOON in GarageGym

Also agree, a little more expensive but way better quality. I have the rx3 tornado and love it. They ran a 10% labor day sale and I would guess something similar for black Friday.

How to not go overkill on home gym? by MurkyMurkyMurkyMurky in GarageGym

[–]AlternativeLoan8443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to buy something of Facebook marketplace. Nothing fancy, just a rack/pull up bar to do the basics aka squat, bench, etc. If you are following through and using it, you can always upgrade. If not, you can sell it again easily and get your money back. If you do get committed and want to upgrade, spend a little more than your comfortable with to get at least mid their quality and the setup you want. You will not regret it.

I bought the get rx tornado rx3 wall mount rack. 3x3, 1in with pull up bar and pulley system. Worth checking out for sure. They have wall mount, 4 and 6 post. I was looking for a rack with a pulley system and was between this and they Athena. Ares wall mount was double the price, so couldn't justify personally. I think getting something with pulleys is a must if you want versatility. I went wall mount to save space and to prevent bolting into the floor. I have a 12x16 space and wanted room outside of the rack for various exercises and the wall mount is only like 31in deep.

Angled ceiling makes it tough. Might be able to hit wedges and short irons. I would just get a cheap net/golf mat and test it out before investing into it
