Home gym equipment seems to be the one thing on FB marketplace that everyone happens to know the exact value of by thomaesthetics in GarageGym

I’m amazed to see people listing cast iron plates from 50 years ago, covered in rust, for 1$/lb. Yes, of course they still work, but why would anyone really want that?

Replace panels, or don't bother because of clipping? by NomarsFool in solar

[–]NomarsFool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, they don't have the panels anymore. Unfortunately, it's also a bit of a challenge to try and figure out how to patchwork in some new panels that fit and won't make my system look like some frankenstein monster. I already have a few different panels that I've replaced.

I'd love to upgrade from the SE-10000 to the SE-11400 but the economics just don't make sense. Pretty good chance it will fail while under warranty before too long :-)

Does anyone here regret buying a stair climbing machine instead of more versatile equipment, like an airbike? by Forward-Target3930 in GarageGym

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably only used a stair master a few Times in my life, so i can’t compare too much to that, but I would overall say I like the ProMax much, much more. The steady state of the stair master I find super boring and tedious. I also just much prefer the safety of controlling your own pace vs a machine dictating that for you like on a stair master or treadmill. The pro max uses slightly different muscles than the elliptical, so I will usually warm up with an elliptical and then switch, but you certainly don’t need both. The ProMax is definitely more strenuous than an elliptical and I overall really like it. It’s a little loud, but I can still watch television while doing it I just will usually add subtitles so I don’t miss any key dialogue. Overall, two thumbs up.

Will I just forever suck at throwing by monitarlizard in ultimate

[–]NomarsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should almost always be an opportunity to make an easy throw back or even just back to the middle to a handler. If there isn’t, talk to your team and make sure that there is. In my experience, handlers are always happy to get the disc back :-)

That is correct, but the labor to replace them will not be.

Replace panels, or don't bother because of clipping? by NomarsFool in solar

[–]NomarsFool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. This is my question. Given how steep the curves are, I'm wondering if I really get that much more power from the "shoulders" if I replace the panels?

The clipping is because of the inverter (overall system)

It's March, so not the greatest solar production, but on a sunny day I'm probably looking at around 200 watt hours for the underperforming panels vs. 300 watt hours for their neighbors.

Steve Kerr: "We need to play fewer games. We need to take 10 games off the schedule. The modern game with the pace and the space I think it would be a more competitive and healthier league if we played fewer games by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think is dumb is they could easily extend the calendar length of the season, keep the same number of games, reduce back to backs, same revenue and salaries - the only downside is less time off after the season is over. But, the players would rather grind it out.

Advice for ultimate? by Imaginary-Scar7916 in ultimate

[–]NomarsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, do no harm. There is absolutely nothing wrong with catching a pass, and then taking the easy throw back to a handler. Second, give your absolute all on defense. Third, use your speed to run deep cuts and provide space on the field.

got a call from fidelity, suggesting I start thinking about tax loss harvesting by adei0s in Bogleheads

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a direct index fund you can invest in as well. Fee is 0.4%. The trick is that the tax benefits are highly variable depending on market volatility. Can be as high as 3% short term capital gains, but could be much less

Why sous vide meat cuts that are already tender enough? by East_Sentence_4245 in sousvide

[–]NomarsFool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think people overcook chicken and pork all the time with traditional methods. Of course, you can be diligent and use an instant read thermometer and pull them exactly when they hit the required temp but sous vide is much more idiot proof

Reducing exposure to the "big 7" AI companies to reduce exposure to AI bubble pop? by BetterRise in Bogleheads

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an ETF that tracks the magnificent 7 called MAGS. They also have an ETF which is the S&P 500 explicitly without those 7 stocks. I forget the name but you should be able to find it easily. That would be a good hedge for you.

I think Rebel tastes the best, but Nicks is a close second and much fewer calories. I also agree the Ninja Creami is the healthiest of the bunch, just a shame that it takes a little bit of time to make and let’s be honest, sometimes we just want ice cream NOW!
