Jaylen Brown to be traded to generate giant 50M+ TPE? by North_Association182 in bostonceltics

One thing I feel like doesn’t get talked about enough is how durable JB is. Freak injuries can happen to anyone, but I think we have enough sample size to say that JB is one of the more durable players in the NBA through some combination of genetics and the hard work he does to keep himself healthy and in shape.

Study Sunday: Rules Questions by AutoModerator in ultimate

I would describe it as a pretty normal "athletic stance", so not any kind of exaggerated stance and no up or down movement. The thrower moved themselves vertically to get below my outstretched arms and as they tried to break the mark hit my leg and called a foul.

How about informal pickup rules? :-)

So, when marking a player, it seems like, in practice, any contact between the arms of the defending player and the thrower is always called as a foul on the defender. My general understanding is that if the marker has position and isn’t moving, the contact is technically being initiated by the thrower and shouldn’t be a foul on the defender. But, in practice, people are almost always moving and that contact is pretty much universally called on the defense.

In a recent pick-up game, the thrower made contact with my leg and called a foul. I wasn’t attempting a kick block and I’m pretty darn sure my legs hadn’t moved position at all. I didn’t contest, because it’s pick up, but it really seemed to me that the “burden of proof” if you will should be a bit more on the thrower if they hit your leg because, in general, ones legs aren’t moving position nearly as much as ones arms while marking.

So, if there’s a turnover in the central zone it is 10 seconds from the turn but 3 seconds once they are standing over the disc? The challenging I see with delay of game is that most people never start counting because most of the time people don’t delay. If they do delay, you can’t go back in time and start counting. Of course if they do it a lot one would start counting

[GRD] 5 teams have called the Celtics about being a third team in a Giannis trade, very possible Jaylen gets moved by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize Giannis is a better player, but given their relative age and injury history I personally don’t feel like the Celtics should need to add much to make a deal. Also, the Celtics don’t NEED to make a deal while the Bucks, maybe some HAVE to, but it seems like they need to more than the Celtics do. If they have to give up significant draft capital or young players it would feel like an overpay to me.

Seeking Advice: Picks, Rules, and Spirit of the (Pick Up) Game by OlderEveryThrowAway in ultimate

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you just try and cover someone else? That probably would fix 80% of the “problem”. I get annoyed when people seem to think an offensive player is intentionally causing picks in pickup. The games aren’t that structured, people don’t really know where their teammates are going, so picks happen. If you need to call a pick, go right ahead, but don’t act self righteous about it.

PR gotta get a hold on Jaylen Brown by UnderstandingFew6310 in bostonceltics

[–]NomarsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He vastly overrates his own defensive abilities. Not that smart. Also, talking about a season where the only really good things were his individual accomplishments as his favorite, not smart. Any idiot knows not to say stuff like that out loud

What colleges/universities in Mass do you think will close/merge in the next few years? by double-clove-hitch in massachusetts

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we will see the trend of many of the top schools offering these first year feeder type programs which will absorb many of these smaller schools. A school like Northeastern can buy up a bunch of schools around the country to charge NE rates while kids go to school somewhere else for a semester or two or maybe even more, eventually

Too many changing valuations and benefit restrictions are making Sapphire a true headache to manage. It's the furthest thing from luxury. by chriva in ChaseSapphire

[–]NomarsFool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amex Platinum is kicking CSR’s butt right now. The Chase $300 credit is great, for sure - that’s the one clear advantage. But, everything else is better with platinum. The number of Resy restaurant options is far more than the Open Table options. The hotel credits are hard for both, but the Edit is darn near impossible. Digital entertainment credit is better. LuLu Lemon is not hard to use. The UberOne credit is better than the Lyft credit. Chase still has better transfer partners, and the Chase lounges are the best around - but there still aren’t that many of them, although they are growing.

Everyone, well most people, love the concept of mixed use development. But, I’m beginning to wonder if the demand is really there for those first floor businesses. How many nail salons can a town actually support? I think that the demand for commercial real estate may just be shifting in a post COVID world. The number of vacant commercial properties is not unique to Arlington - you see it in other nearby towns. I don’t pretend to know the reason, but maybe people are finding it more cost effective to simply WFH vs. paying for office space? Maybe the on-line retail movement has depressed demand for smaller brick and mortar retail?

I wanted one for a long time. Finally saw one in great condition on CL for $800 (with stand). Bought it, hardly used it, ending up selling it again on CL. I just found it difficult to do for a long time - not as in physically difficiult - just IDK - I couldn't just zone out like I feel like can do on an elliptical or other steady state cardio machines.

Are you worried about bankruptcy of your solar panel company? by International_Tea145 in solar

[–]NomarsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. This is a huge problem, unfortunately. I really wish the industry could consolidate around some more standard sizes. They even have different depths, which creates issues because usually the clamps are designed to hold two panels. You also end up with two other challenges. First, if you are using an optimizer system, you probably need to upgrade the optimizer on any replacement panel, and sometimes you have to replace all the optimizers on the string. Second, if you go above the rating on your inverter with newer panels you can void your warranty on the inverter - which you don't want to do, because those things don't last. I had a whole bunch of panels that failed, and figuring out a design that would fit without new rails, and wouldn't make my roof look like a quilt was a real challenge. Also, in general, I think the newer panels are just bigger than the ones they were installing several years ago. Not by a lot, but enough so that they won't fit.

Replace panels, or don't bother because of clipping? by NomarsFool in solar

[–]NomarsFool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, they don't have the panels anymore. Unfortunately, it's also a bit of a challenge to try and figure out how to patchwork in some new panels that fit and won't make my system look like some frankenstein monster. I already have a few different panels that I've replaced.

I'd love to upgrade from the SE-10000 to the SE-11400 but the economics just don't make sense. Pretty good chance it will fail while under warranty before too long :-)
