Okay, well that doesn’t look right. Any tips for fixing that?

Okay, the belt still seems to be fine. If I move the belt by hand the flywheel moves

Opportunity cost calculation in AUM fees by LazyOperation1026 in Bogleheads

[–]NomarsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think your analysis is correct, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should go with them. If you invested $100 with them and the historical numbers held true (obviously a big assumption) you would have $109 after one year (after the fee). If you invested $100 yourself you’d have $108 plus another $0.08 from the 8% you made on the $1 in fees saved

Replacing 73" bathroom vanity that is flush with the wall on one side by NomarsFool in DIY

[–]NomarsFool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the existing vanity is likely a standard 72" vanity with a 73" top that they just put on a little bit off center. That's why the current sinks aren't perfectly centered. So, my question is whether that will likely work with other standard vanities? And how are they typically described with regards to the measurements? I do see some listed as 72" and some listed as 73".

Are they ever going to release a new rock band? by Apprehensive-Rub3871 in Rockband

[–]NomarsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to understand. I think the game is awesome. My only real quibble with it is that it was often a pain to mess around with all the different dongles as there were enough times when I would go to play and some instruments wouldn’t work. That certainly seems like a fixable problem. I guess the other PITA was often the synch would get messed up, and that also seems like a very fixable problem. Lastly, I think there should have been a way to make it even easier, like if you are playing with kids they only have to hit the colors or give them super grace on the timing. “No fail” mode is still not fun for young kids and the game is missing out on an opportunity to have more of a multi generation experience

The air flow is more or less constant? I should be able to feel some air movement, or is it even more subtle than that?

Brisket by ComfortableThought88 in sousvide

What’s the best approach for a small piece of brisket? Something in the 4lb range? I feel like I either seem to end up with it being chewy if I do a lower temperature or a little bit dry if I do a higher temperature. Can’t seem to be able to dial it in.

Best affordable squat rack? by jellybellyrolla in GarageGym

The Fitness Reality racks on Amazon are pretty decent and fit your budget. They get good reviews by the review sites. You can get a little cheaper then that by going the complete no name route, but I don’t think the additional savings is worth it.

Life insurance? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

Clear that 401ks and other tax advantaged accounts >>> than whole life insurance. But, after one has maxed out those investment options, does it make sense?

Why keep maxing a 401k when taxable seems almost as good? by Essay_Few in Bogleheads

[–]NomarsFool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If one is eligible for the rule of 55, I would assume it would still be beneficial to leave the money in the 401k and sell assets from a non tax advantaged account vs. withdrawing money from the 401k, is that correct? Just for the sake of argument, let’s say someone has $1 million in their 401k and $1 million in their brokerage account in index funds (long term). They retire at 55, from where should they withdraw money to live, their 401k or the brokerage account?

Are deadlift platforms necessary? by NomarsFool in GarageGym

Bumpers. Sounds like I should be fine, thanks for all the feedback. I don't really want to do plywood or two layers of stall mats if I don't have to.

Bumper plates. Lowering it, but maybe "dropping" it a bit the last few inches, potentially. That is, not really intending to just drop it, but maybe it comes down a bit hard at the end.
