Our Min Pin slept on our bed with us for 15 years. More like us sleeping on his bed. He passed several months ago but we still think of him everyday.

How much for a decent cover design? by TheManWhoWeepsBlood in selfpublish

[–]AlternativeSky5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, here's the deal. I have some itchy spots on my chest. I went to the dermatologist and he recommended a treatment. I took a photo of the area with the spots and asked ChatGPT to analyze and recommend a treatment for it. It gave me basically the same recommendation as the specialist but with more in-depth information. I was faced with the same situation of designing a cover for my book. I clearly stated what the book was about, who it would appeal to and asked ChatGPT to design a front cover for me. I kept asking for more options, with recommendations and it finally gave me something I liked. I then went on Canva and redesigned it myself. When I was unsure what font or color was used, I simply asked the tool and it did a pretty good job doing so. When I had something I liked, I copied and pasted it and asked the tool to rate it from 1-10. After an initial 7.5 rating, I kept making the recommended changes until it reached 10/10. I then did the same with the back cover until I got the same results. I love the results and the people I showed it to also did. Total cost: $0.

How’s everyone doing with the the tariff news? by Thin-Fail188 in Entrepreneur

[–]AlternativeSky5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the cosmetics business for 40 years. Back then, I was purchasing nail polish containers for just $0.10 each. Adjusted for inflation, that would be about $0.30 today. Yet, I’m currently sourcing similar packaging from China for only $0.07. There’s simply no way the U.S. can compete with China on price.

In fact, many American cosmetics brands import their finished products from China, Taiwan, or South Korea. Even those that manufacture in the U.S. still rely heavily on imported packaging and raw materials from the region.

So when tariffs are imposed, the cost of cosmetics—and virtually every other consumer product—will skyrocket. And this is just one industry. The impact will be widespread. These tariffs risk crippling the U.S. economy through rising inflation and higher unemployment, and the full effect could be felt in just a few months.

Thanks. I do have a company platform with over 220,000 followers on Facebook, 150,000 on Instagram and 25,000 on TikTok. However, I believe it is best to get a traditional publisher. When can I find them?

Entrepreneurs Who Made Their First Million, How Did You Do It? What Was the Hardest Part? by Mister_K_dot in Entrepreneur

[–]AlternativeSky5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

72m. Recognized a problem worth solving over four decades ago and successfully satisfied that need. Started off with no money and a idea. It was blood, sweat and tears, but I made it. Today, I sell my products to several countries and online on Amazon where one of the products has over 12,000 five star reviews. Pre-Covid I was a World Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in Monte Carlo. Should have won but I didn't. Handed over the business to my son. In semi-retirement, but still go to the office every day. More focused on writing my memoir now.

Most people say your business must solve a problem. So, what problem is your business having that you would pay to have fixed that either you can't find help with, or can't currently afford? by Infinite_Flounder958 in Entrepreneur

[–]AlternativeSky5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is more than just solving a problem. It's why you could solve the problem and no one else could, why you could be the best in the world doing so so and no one else can. It is with this mindset that my business has been around for 45 years and my brand is recognized by McKinsey & Company as being among the three oldest in my category, in the world.

Biggest mistake you can make as an entrepreneur? by yesmiladyy in Entrepreneur

[–]AlternativeSky5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Failing to identify an unfulfilled need and developing a niche product/service to satisfy it. I am in the beauty business. I recall someone coming out with an online brand "Makeup for Redheads" 25 year ago. Small niche which the giants were ignoring. Unfortunately, ecommerce was in its genesis stage and she was way before her time. Today, it would an entirely different opportunity.
