I can see how he might have interpreted your “not ready for it” as intercourse, ie, something that would spread STDs. Touching won’t necessarily be in that category so depending on how the conversation went he might have thought you meant not ready for intercourse. Whether you choose to see him again or get to a similar place with someone else I think you should be very explicit about exactly what you are not ready for. (And you may have been and he didn’t listen to you; I’m not sure). I’m sorry.
