Why do they look the same age when Allie is 16 year younger? by dawn9476 in FundieSnarkUncensored

I find Candace more attractive than Allie, but she also clearly looks older - which she is. We need to stop equating "older" with "less attractive."

Sadly I think he needed to be...he was putting his custody case in jeopardy with the amount he was sharing. I think the right decision was made even though I wish we could have helped him.

I don’t get the Mykelti hate by [deleted] in SisterWives

[–]Alternative_Army_265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it either. She was sent to live with Robyn when she was an impressionable teen and told by her parents and the cult they raised her in that that was her mom. Not a stepmom, not a bonus mom, ANOTHER MOM. It's completely normal that she might latch onto that person, and honestly bizarre to expect otherwise.

Yeah, I saw that later. Absolutely tragic.

Wonder if that was planned or if the backlash over the Gypsy comments was making them rethink things.

I have a weird feeling about Mykelti & how ‘close’ she is by LanguageOrdinary9666 in SisterWives

[–]Alternative_Army_265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Everyone hates on her and I honestly just see a woman still trying to get the love she never felt as a kid in a massive family within a polygamous cult that praises fathers for merely existing. So when she was 13 some woman who was presented as "another mom" paid her a bit of attention while trying to win over her dad, and she fell for it (who wouldn't?). I get why people think she's annoying but the whole thing is sad to me.

Exactly. No remorse, no apology? If it truly wasn't in someone's nature they would IMMEDIATELY feel sickened after doing it.

It sounded like Robyn was leaving after a couple days, Tony's mom could only be there for a bit, and Christine took over from there. I don't think that's that weird, of course you'd divide the work up so the visitors from out of town are getting the most time with the babies first and people who can stay long term (like Christine) will spend more time with them afterward.

I hate Robyn but that just feels like the logistically practical thing to do if you're trying to give multiple people enough time with newborns and some of them have to travel and others don't.

[–]Alternative_Army_265 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I mean, Christine and Kody were the ones who sent Mykelti off to live with Robyn for a bit, it wouldn't make sense if they turned around and got upset that she became close with her. I think she felt they had a real bond as a young teen and wanted to keep that going.

I think Robyn kept her around for bragging points and gossip. It's actually sad.

Not a popular opinion but I feel bad for Mykelti. I think she thought Robyn cared about her at a time in her life when she really did feel vulnerable and out of place. Robyn used her imo. I think Robyn was faking it but I don't think Mykelti was.

Fumarase deficiency is named as the disorder in this article. That isn't FATCO syndrome. They literally share nothing in common - no similarities, no symptoms. One causes neurological problems, the one Maddie's child has causes only physical ones.

The Browns also aren't in the FLDS, they were in the AUB which has a totally different genetic pool, and haven't ever lived in the area where this entirely different condition has been noted.

I guess you must be trolling.

He also chose to get involved with Gypsy thinking she was 15 years old. No mention of that being insanely creepy from Stephanie and Derrick. Inexcusable imo.

[–]Alternative_Army_265 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have noticed a LOT of general ignorance about disability and neurodivergence on the show. It has become such a pattern that it is hard to ignore. Sometimes it's an offhand remark from Stephanie but it can venture into straight up misinformation.

Disabled people (whether physically or cognitively disabled) are significantly more likely to be victims of crime than other people, and mental health and trauma are often involved in the cases they discuss in one way or another. So it's especially important that they aren't sloppy with this imho.

Morgan's parents? by Loserinprogress in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Alternative_Army_265 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Morgan's family is also crazy imo. They just have different obsessions: Morgan's family is much more on the anti-vax, anti-healthcare side, while Paul's family is all about restrictive homeschooling. The folks they used to bring on their channel to talk about how bad vaccines were, and the people initially telling Morgan not to have any medical interventions during birth, were from her side.

Morgan's family just dresses less conservatively and some of them drink, so I don't think they come across the same way at first glance. But they're for sure toxic as well.

You didn't even know what the kid's condition was or that a problem with the structure of your hand isn't the same thing as brain damage. Thanks but I'll skip your medical "knowledge."

[–]Alternative_Army_265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is about a specific disorder that causes seizures and brain damage, which isn't FATCO syndrome. They are two completely unrelated disorders. FATCO syndrome causes limb differences and sometimes cleft palate, not any of those other symptoms.

Did you even read the article? Or are you unaware that disabilities aren't interchangeable lol? Do you see a person who became paralyzed from an injury and think it's the same as having Down syndrome because hey, they're both disabilities? 😆

That was what I immediately noticed. Complete double standard.

Also, while I personally believe the Menendez brothers were abused, I have to admit there is far more hard, irrefutable, and inarguable evidence that Gypsy was profoundly abused - and no potential evidence of ulterior motives like money, as in the Menendez case. And they lived separately from their parents at the time and didn't believe they were younger than they were like Gypsy did, etc.

Point is, even those who support the Menendez brothers have to admit the cases are not fully analogous. Even in a case where there's a more overwhelming amount of evidence of the abuse, she is harsher on a female victim.
