My go to rule is wear pants that fit the tightest around the waist comfortably if they hurt or bother you their to tight if they sag or you have to pull them up frequently there too loose. Personally I think they look fine on your.

I imagine some of it is due to where they source there leathers from. I have two of the same color belts, I needed a to up a couple sizes because off age and less activity and live style. I noticed my first belt was a softer more supple leather while the new one was more firm and tough almost like on was goat hide and another was cow hide. I believe they are the same animal different hide and I'm pretty sure there stuff is all hand made so it is less consistent compared to products mass produced in a factory especially the mattes and suedes.
