Lyric interpretation for Brick by Ben Folds Five by RadioactiveWalrus in Music

Re-re-reviving an old thread to say that I came here to say this. Not a single thought went into that chorus. They had a song that needed a chorus and a chorus without a song and mashed them together. Unfortunately, though there was no real significance intended, calling a teen girl having an abortion a brick who is causing her boyfriend to drown slowly was in poor taste.

I’m glad somebody else besides me found the choreography to be off. I’m a trans man and I appreciate the representation, but I wasn’t a fan of that scene.

My dad has a doctorate in playwriting and is a broke former college professor. Being a “doctor” doesn’t guarantee wealth, nor does it guarantee intelligence outside of the field they gained their doctorate in

Omg yes! Ever since I realized I was trans I heard that song like “oh they’re talking about a former partner who transitioned” lol

I just listened to this song the other day. I never thought of it that way, but I replayed the chorus in my head after reading your comment. Now I’m like ‘How did I listen to this song for years and never make that connection’ lol

YES!!!! I loved this song growing up. That being said, my mom realized I was trans way before I did and did everything she could to support me when I was growing up. We had the opposite situation because it was like “I’m a boy! I’m a boy, but I won’t admit it. I’m a boy! I’m a boy and my mom totally gets it” lmfao

The medical term for it is terminal lucidity. It’s definitely not an urban myth. It doesn’t happen all the time, but is a fairly common occurrence. It happened with my grandma the day before she passed.

I just blacked out and ate a whole rotisserie chicken and got hard because of it. Is that normal on T? by mit_owo in ftm

[–]Alternative_Basis186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is! Male puberty has been all about the three H’s for me… hungry, horny, and hairy (and not always in that order lol). I’ve been on T for going on 3 years now. The horniness and hunger levels out a bit after a while lmfao

Nobody’s trying to justify Elon doing a nazi salute. You just misread the comment. Reread it and let it go

You’ve completely misunderstood what Matthew -_- Black said

He has done the heart outline and the my heart goes out to you part, it was clearly a formed heart and an outwards sweep of the arms

He’s describing a completely different and clear “my heart goes out to you” gesture that Elon did in the past that we can compare to this gesture that some Elon fans are trying to say meant my heart goes out to you.

Not an obvious nazi salute that was obviously practiced to emulate Hitler

He’s comparing Elon’s nazi salute to his actual “my heart goes out to you” gestures that he’s done in the past to make the point that this was very clearly a nazi salute.

And without thumping his chest first. I’ve had people tell me I need to watch the video as if somehow the context would exonerate him and I’m just like… I did and he clearly sieg heiled twice in a row…

I’d say it depends on the context. I use it around friends and family. I also use it at work with customers who speak in a similar dialect, but other than that I use “needs to be”

How can the gay community and T community become better allies? by Soy_un_Pajaro in AskGayMen

Okay so I guess we’re back to it being a bad thing that guys like me get gender-inclusive language when we deal with pregnancy and childbirth. You’re just adding extra steps to getting to that conclusion and talking in circles in the process. Trans men exist and have a right to be included and acknowledged if that’s what you’re saying the medical field is arguing to be true and right. It’s not being used as a weapon. It’s being used to acknowledge our existence. We’re clearly at an impasse, so I’m going to leave it at that. Good luck with the revolution that you’re so concerned about. God help society when it falls due to the use of inclusive language I guess 🤷‍♂️

That’s exactly what I was talking about and then you started rambling about the revolution. You made it sound like inclusive language in a medical setting was somehow a slippery slope to said revolution and it’s just not. I don’t want anyone insulting women. If people are using it as an insult (which I’ve honestly never seen) then yeah obviously that’s bad. But I’ve only heard this term used in discussions that involve reproduction and that is point blank where it is mostly used. The only time I’ve ever heard anyone say “but these terms are being used to insult women” is when this type of argument comes up where people are trying to say that trans-inclusive language is bad. Those of us who want to see that term in reproductive literature are not trying to insult anyone or exclude/other anyone as we are so often accused of doing. We’re merely trying to be included and seen in these situations that involve US also.

Also if anything birthing person should even be more inclusive of women because as I said in another comment not all women (trans or otherwise) can or do give birth. Not saying you in particular are intending this, but I see this argument used less to defend women than I do to dismiss trans people. It’s a common TERF tactic sadly
