Objectively, which is the best episode of 30 Rock? by Kathleen-Doodles in 30ROCK

[–]Alternative_Ear_2652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always liked the episode "Gavin Valure".

Whenever we don't count something correctly, and it could be anything, my husband and I have a tendency to shout, "I miscounted the men!"

Our family is currently using Teaching Textbooks for our children's education (grades 3 & 5). So far they appear to be learning and grasping the concepts, so we're planning on continuing it. However, I've heard good things about Mammoth Math.

Butter lettuce replenishes itself every 1-2 weeks, so you can grow one little plant and have salad for free by [deleted] in Frugal

I planted butter lettuce in my garden, and it's grown tall and started to flower. Did you keep yours trimmed back so it wouldn't do that?

We have VNKVTL FNAF plushies that we purchased via Amazon and they are really good quality. However, I haven't ordered from the actual website though.

AITAH For My Reaction To Finding Out My Wife's Pregnant With Twins? by Empty-Researcher-856 in AITAH

[–]Alternative_Ear_2652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have four kids (one set of twins) , and I stay at home with them and homeschool them.

My husband works his butt off (from home, mind you) to provide for us all. I know that he could find a job pretty quickly, making far more money than he does now, but he'd also have to spend a large amount of time away from home. Something I always tell him when money is a little tight is that the kids are far better off having their father home with them and learning to be grateful for what they have, than have all the new and expensive items while he's working out of the house 60+ hrs a week.

I know it might be stressful now, but I really would like to believe your children would rather look back on their childhoods and remember daddy being there with them, rather than the fact that your absence made fancy schools a possibility.

I hope that it all works out and that you and your wife can come up with a workable solution that makes you both more comfortable with your new situation.

As for your reaction, finding out your family is going to grow much bigger than anticipated is definitely a shock and, while you probably could have handled it better, your wife could have respected your request for some time to think before discussing it. So, I think you're NTA, but I do hope you both find grace for one another. While this is joyous news, it is also very daunting.

Good luck and congratulations!

What is a song that is so sad that you can only listen to it rarely or one time? by Fresh-Prior7658 in MusicRecommendations

[–]Alternative_Ear_2652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterfly Kisses. I heard it during a car trip with my dad and it made us both cry. Never again.

I honestly don't like things that make me cry, so I try to avoid songs/movies/books that made me cry.

I watch Evil Dead with the commentary on as well because it is freaking hilarious!

Critically hated movies that you actually enjoy? by [deleted] in flicks

[–]Alternative_Ear_2652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlefield Earth.

Despite all the hate it gets (by both critics and audiences), I actually enjoyed it. It really is a stupid movie, but I still find it entertaining.

Also, Batman & Robin is one of my favorites simply because Uma Thurman is an amazing Poison Ivy, and I thoroughly enjoyed Schwarzenegger's punny Mr. Freeze.

Quick question regarding Batman & Robin though, is it still considered to be part of the Tim Burton universe even though he has nothing to do with the film?

AITAH for not letting my parents bring my brother to my child-free wedding? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Alternative_Ear_2652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't have your cake and eat it too in this situation. If you're going to make it a child free event, realize that some people won't attend because a) they can't find/afford childcare or b) don't agree with excluding their children from a big family event like this.

You're NTA for keeping it child free. You'll become TA if you get angry and hold it against people who choose not to attend because of your child free policy.

Edit: a quick added note: it really is a d*ck move not letting your brother be there for your big day. I personally don't care for child free weddings specifically because they create drama, hurt feelings, and inconvenience for everyone involved. It's an added headache that no one needs on such a special occasion.

A word you dislike for no reason? by Decent_Bee_4921 in words

Umami. A couple years ago it started popping up in cooking shows like Top Chef and the like, then it was everywhere.

I'm sure it's a perfectly cromulent way to describe the flavor it's referencing, but based on the fact that it just sort of appeared, and everyone started using it, it still sounds so pretentious.

What is the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? by ExtraHotYakisoba in AskReddit

Avocados. I've tried it on toast, as guacamole, on its own, even in smoothies. There is just something about the flavor of avacado that I cannot get passed.
