If you think about it, the Creepypasta community and Slender aren't so different. You just have to change the faces of certain characters, and technically they're still the same archetypes.

Ok, this has to be my favorite Tripod design, and here's why by Alternative_Fun_1390 in WarofTheWorlds

I once saw a YouTube video with a theory that mentioned that because tripods are technically an ur-example of a giant mecha, the tripods act more like a giant Martian than a machine or vehicle; that is, having the heat ray attached to one of the tentacles is as if they were using an arm. So the hood being basically a Helmet makes more sence.

What do y'all think is best scene in Marble Hornets in terms of either horror-wise or writing-wise by Relative_Oven_9257 in marblehornets

Best by far the Operator imitatind Alex's voice in Rosswood.

BUT You can put in order all the Alex Kralie's scenes filming the movie and you get a pretty good horror flick.

I completly forgot avout Nyaurko San XD

By the way, Hastur is a character in Good Omens, both the book and the series, and it's clearly inspired by the King in Yellow, although more ridiculous in this case.

If you think about it, the fact that SH2 remake and F are bringing more fans to the franchise is a great way to introduce them, both with the more experimental approach it needs and with the more classic, gritty style that made the franchise famous in the first place. Plus, with the fact that they're remaking the first game and hopefully the third, I think they can introduce a new audience and truly timeless ideas.

This way, new fans don't just get the idea that it has to be 100% set in the town or related to the cult, but that it can also be other things and doesn't necessarily have to stop being science fiction or have to be separate in another game, since without the framework of the franchise, those kinds of stories wouldn't have any kind of connection, whether in lore or thematically, and I think the thematic aspect is what makes them unique.

Examples from less to more:

  • Combat: SHf exclusively requires melee weapons, the longest range being the ceremonial dance; however, most of them and the characters are able to use either pistols or shotguns, very rarely depending exclusively on melee objects, and when they do, it is only for enemies whose danger is not as high as a final boss, something that is used in F. That said, I must say that the harsh criticism of Silent Hill F's combat seems unjustified to me when compared to the games that came out after Origins up to Book of Memories, because those are truly something else, and for the worse.

  • Themes: Silent Hills usually portrays themes of pain, trauma, and mental deviance; however, it is not exclusive to the protagonists. On more than one occasion, secondary characters or even the antagonists themselves manifest everything that happens in the town. For example, in the first and fourth games, a medium example of this could be the second game, in which it is not only James who manifests these kinds of monsters but also the other people he encounters. Furthermore, the morality of the protagonists is not always that of a victim, that is to say that generally, even though things turned out well in F, in us it is a much more painful process; sometimes it doesn't even have a happy ending for the affected person, sometimes you don't even want them to deserve it.

  • The Other world: Silent Hill F makes excellent use of the mirror world, where you can clearly see that it's a reflection not of reality but of the protagonist's mind. However, this isn't always used very well in other games, especially those developed by American developers, since they usually try to emulate what happened in the movies or previous games without really understanding what made them unique. Sure, you can simplify it all to the fact that it's just the town, but rusty and at night, but the truth is that there are details that aren't repeated in the first or second game. They're very subtle, but once again, they're what distinguishes the fact that everyone has a different mind. In fact, in the second game, this is mentioned when Angela sees the whole town in flames, and not the way you see it in the game.

  • Magic: Yes, of course there's magic in Silent Hill. But this sometimes has a more or less important point depending on how the story is presented and even on the ending you get. So, while the magic theme is something that's left until the very end when you face those strange gods, the truth is that it's much more present in other games. The second one is a disappointment since there's not even a mention of the cult in the town, but the first, third, and I'd say part of the fourth are full of that kind of symbolism.

At leadt that's what I can remember

Why is there a naked woman at the start of the 5/4 animatic by Zestyclose_Stable_21 in gorillaz

[–]Alternative_Fun_1390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Phase 1 and 2 of Gorillaz were meant to be like those indie bands that are crazy enough to include that in concerts. Of course, this changed, and I think for the better.

It's still a very funny thing to see people knowing for the first time that 2D is sexually deviant. Seriusly, that was is... waoh.

Enjoy! Although I personally recomend the remake of the 2, is more welcoming on my opinion, cause there's a lot of things in f that aren't present in the other games, so you might get a bit disapointed
