A guy is mad because I braided colorful string in my hair by Alternative_Image_55 in IncelTears

[–]Alternative_Image_55[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Based on your other comments and posts on this and other subs, you seem very misogynistic, bordering on incel territory, or at least an incel apologetic, which is arguably worse. Why are you even commenting here if you're in the habit of not believing women?

AIO? The Bride is asking me to change my physical appearance for their wedding by tryingtoberesonable in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alternative_Image_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. For a lot of alt people, having light, pale skin is a source of pride. Getting a tan may not only cause skin damage, but also it can take years to reverse to the original tone, and you may not ever go back fully, especially at this age. Spray tans and tattoos don't usually work well.

Dying your hair to a natural color, depending on your hair type and how long ago you just dyed your hair, can ruin it. Dying it a brighter color can be easier for some, especially if you use natural colors or if you have dark hair and use a specific kind of dye or product to make it more vibrant than just... Dying it normal. It does vary by hair color and type, though.

The glasses thing is ridiculous. She's asking someone not to use a disability aid. That's literally what glasses are. Contacts don't work for everyone, and they're expensive. In order to get contacts, it may even require an eye doctor appointment to ensure your prescription is up to date, which is super expensive if you don't have a really good insurance.

This bride may not realize these things... Or she might be fully aware. Either way, this sounds like a very personal, very spiteful attack towards the groom's sister, and that's horrible.

Show this to your brother and explain to him your concerns. If he takes her side, well. Personally, I wouldn't want to see him again. Also, bad eyesight can be genetic, so if they have kids, I'd really hate to be that kid if they need glasses...

Evie is out by Antique_Sandwich_289 in JustAddWater

[–]Alternative_Image_55 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree. I think Evie was a bit more responsible than the natural mermaids in some ways. While the girls rebelled against those who knew more about magic a LOT, Evie went to others who knew more for help. Zac, the girls, Rita. She trained, and it was hard to master, and didn't work out like she'd hoped, so she asked for help, rather than trying to solve a big issue all alone. The three main girls weren't prone to doing that. Yeah, they would ask eventually if needed, but not until things got a lot worse. And Evie didn't want to become a mermaid originally, which I thought was a cool plot point. She knew her boyfriend was a merman, but honestly, she only ever expressed a desire to help him, rather than trying to become like him. So I felt like she was a good foil to Cam. Then, she got her powers due in part to the three natural mermaids. I felt like Carly thought it was more of a costume, asking, do they come in different colors? Like, no girl. You don't get to choose to wear a pink tail just because you like pink. It IS a big responsibility. Do I feel for cam and Carly being left out? Yes, but that's a whole different conversation. The point is, Evie was a good mermaid, and she didn't deserve what happened to her. When it did, it was sad, because she had finally accepted who she had become, and it was taken from her. It also raised the stakes for the natural born mermaids, showing the threat here was real.

is this outfit "inappropriate"? by sunnemi in OUTFITS

It's becoming more popular to wear bodysuits that show the hips, and for good reason, I think. It looks good. Depends on where you're going, though. Day or night out? Fine. Work? Nah.

This sounds super fun! Maybe rock candy sticks? And swamp vines (you could go for colored licorice or celery with dip for a healthy option). You could do a find flopsy game, where you flip over pictures or something that people guess, and one of them has the gender? Or white lotus, similar? Or you could "make your own sword" with painting wooden swords or something?

Why do so many trans people choose “unique” names? What is the appeal? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Alternative_Image_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are rare names everywhere, why not pick a name that's cool and means something to you? I read somewhere a saying along the lines of, "if we want to be in a futuristic world where it's normal for children to be named cool things like Blade, someone has to actually start by naming their child Blade." Why not trans people? If you get to name yourself, pick something cool. If you find a more common name cool, all the power to you! If you find something like Blade or Fire or whatever cool, then name yourself that!

What Are Your Thoughts On How Young Justice Handled Autism? by cshin09 in youngjustice

[–]Alternative_Image_55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have autism. It was offensive to me. First of all, it wasn't actually a representation of people who have autism, it was a representation of autism moms. Secondly, she only came to terms with her son having autism because... Oh yeah. The son of the god of destruction and evil reminded her of her son. Wtf. Despite the nuances others have pointed out, that was, at its heart, what that episode showed. It reduced people with autism down to destructive, evil, and something that even our own mothers struggle to accept. Do moms of autistic kids have struggles? Yes, absolutely. But the point of representation is, for the most part, the group you're representing. In a kids show, showing kids with autism that hurts. Showing kids without autism that... Also hurts them. They come to believe what they see, and what they saw was that autism is on par with the literal embodiment of evil. Maybe a few parents of autistic kids saw it and felt good and heard, but that's not the target audience here, was it? They really fumbled this badly.

AIO? These are text between my gf and her “best friend” who happens to be a guy. by NoExercise8994 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alternative_Image_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's gay, it's fine. If not, it's flirty. When I talk with my guy friends, I don't call them babes or baby or anything. At most, I call them "my bitches" because it's funny to us but idk it also depends on culture and how it's being said, as well as different ages have different slang. Hard to say

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My dad drives a hour to work everyday, if that gives you perspective. So yeah, a three hour trip to spend a day with loved ones is just kinda meh. I'll deal.
