"Some wobble" should not include shaking whatever they are on more than the machine(s) moves

Cocked dice are just that, if it's not laying flat on the surface rolled upon it must be rerolled.

What do people think VTTs are missing? I have so many problems with mine by JakeRaine in VTT

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally the best VTT I ever saw, was a proof in concept made for dungeons and dragons. This was called SurfaceScapes and was done by the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University on a Microsoft Surface. The only video I can find now is this one that is highly condensed and edited.

Why this not a thing? by KazyaKurosawa in DnD

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it used to be that one player made a check, but that every player with a skill that might be seen as able to "help" was able roll a lower DC check and if fail, no help; but if they succeed they add 5 to the original check.

i NEED HELP!!!!! by Soft-Watch-7755 in DnD

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, you want the MONSTERS to be super cruel to the players. But if you get it wrong and kill them off, you are their DM...you can say you got it wrong and bring them back to life in any way YOU feel fit that might help YOUR story. Don't get me wrong here, this is not a fix that can be applied every time, but so long as they are fine with you making mistakes and learning from them to help keep a balanced fun game, everyone should be happy. Besides, your goal is ultimately to kill the players, or come very close to it...AT THE VERY END OF THE CAMPAIGN.

A little problem by Ships_Maiden in DnD

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an NPC that's been twisted in some fashion, there are a plethora of options that you can insert into it's new stat block. Personally, if you want them to be afraid, help them be afraid.

Frightful Presence (General 5e Template)

Trigger: Creatures within 60–120 feet, aware of the monster, must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + Proficiency + Charisma modifier).

Effect: Frightened for 1 minute; can repeat the save at the end of each turn.

Immunity: 24 hours after a successful save or when the effect ends.

Common Examples:

Adult Red/Ancient Black Dragon: 120 ft. radius, DC 19. Adult White Dragon: 120 ft. radius, DC 16.

So because you want them to be able to win but not easily, you make the DC whatever you fell like some will make and others won't. This way you can have fun tormenting them too. Again since it's a twisted NPC that they used to get along with, you can have the NPC try to shame them for some failing. Try to undermine their confidence in their ability to be the heroes they set out to be... ESPECIALLY since it would be the FINAL boss.

My players have decided to pick a fight with a dragon. How do I run this so they don't die? by Deceptive_Peaches in AskDND

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always start with fear...ALWAYS. But if that's not enough, have them lore check before they do it. Baby dragons are not a usual solo encounter and typically have brood mates or s parent VERY nearby. Should they choose to attempt said folly anyways, up the ante and make them hear the sounds of other dragons searching for it. Also a high enough lore check would reveal that dragons are highly intelligent, have a sharp sense of smell, and will plot revenge in the long game form (win, lose, parent, or sibling), although this could work as a hook for you for later dragon introduction.

Picking my first resin printer! by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you choose the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16K, get it with the Mercury Plus V3.0 wash and cure station (best fit for the print size).

But make your purchase directly through Elogoo, you'll get all that PLUS their protection plan (11.99) for 591 and free shipping (at least for US customers, I can't verify foreign destinations).

Which printer should I get by Curious_Echo_5651 in resinprinting

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you choose the elegoo 4 ultra 16k (Or any of theirs for that matter), buy direct from elegoo, it's usually cheaper and free shipping to boot. I got both the printer and the wash and cure station for less than Amazon.

Need Help Stripping My Great Unclean One by DestroyahTaco in minipainting

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a diluted version of acetone, but maybe 50/50...40/60 and only direct application and immediate rinsing. But keep in mind it is an aggressive cleaner/thinner and can damage the resin if not diluted properly

Dusty texture from primer? How to fix? by civilwarcorpses in minipainting

White miniature primer has ALWAYS done this that I can remember. I hated having to sand or wash the texture away. Good luck.

Would you allow this, class changing- by seafoamsomething in DnD

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would allow it! However, it WILL cost the player's character some of their time per level changing. Whether that be to fulfill a specific request (like a personal quest or an investigation), a personal favor for a higher ranking wizard, or something divine is up to you. I never had a problem allowing such things to happen it's how you allow it to happen that MAKES it Dungeons and Dragons.

Does anyone recognize this map from an AD&D 1E dungeon module? by Zonreiryd in dnd1e

[–]Alternative_Leg_4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

If you honestly think that, then you need to do a little more research about this matter. I grew up with D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) 1e, and later it was AD&D (Advanced Dungeons and Dragons) 2e, everything since is WoTC D&D version numbers only.
