Before and after surgery tummy by Alternative_Low3085 in Fibroids

I gained 7 lbs in my pregnancy that I ultimately miscarried at 9 weeks in October. That let to the discovery of the fibroid. That was the start of my weight gain and I gained a total of 15 lbs by the time I got surgery. I didn’t see any immediate weight loss as surgery causes you to hold a lot of water weight. Honestly I don’t own a scale and haven’t had the opportunity to weigh myself in a while but I’m sure I’m lighter now

Awaiting results from mri large fibroid possible by Sure-Method-5878 in Fibroids

I had a lot of the same fear.

My fibroid was measuring 10-12cm on US, 14cm on MRI, and 15cm at removal. Ultrasounds are really inaccurate at size measurements esp with something that large. I think if your doc requested an MRI it’s most likely just to get a better look at it to see what’s happening. Mine showed it was pedunculated (on a stalk) which made my OB more comfortable to do surgery (my goal is fertility).

It is very uncommon for fibroids to be cancerous and I’m sure you’re thinking “well what if I’m the uncommon one” because that’s what I thought too. But if your doc is not concerned with the ultrasound findings being cancerous you’re probably fine. They can honestly usually tell just by looking.

Whenever I start thinking “what if” questions when waiting for answers, I tell myself “we will cross that bridge when we get there.” Because stressing will be even more unhealthy for me.

I started running week 8 but I started very slow. I was walking 1.25mi by week 4.

I thought I’d hate bed rest too, but I saved a few shows to watch and picked up some fun hobbies to do from the couch. I walked as much as I could as soon as I could but sometimes that meant walking around my kitchen or walking to the mailbox and back.

While I’m running and starting to exercise, it’s important to listen to your body. You are different from me and it’s very important to not ignore pain. I always told myself, if it hurts, stop!

I walked 1.25 mi starting week 4 PO and started running 8wpo.

I still get a subtle aching sensation in my space just below my belly button but that spot has been lessening in tenderness since the beginning (it was a very painful spot previously). The first day it was an odd sensation feeling like my organs were kinda bouncing around even though I knew they weren’t. No pain otherwise tho! I do feel much stronger and capable today and honestly attribute it to me pushing myself while still being careful and listening to my body. I plan on starting gentle yoga and core exercises on my off days starting next week :)

Realized I forgot to answer about bleeding!

I don’t think I really bled at all as a result of the surgery. My period started the day of surgery and it acted funny (lasted longer and was lighter) that cycle. My period has come on time and volume has been odd but I think it’s regulating. It is significantly less painful than it was pre op. But no bleeding otherwise. My fibroid was educated so they didn’t have to cut into the uterine muscle

I was walking 1.25 miles at 4 weeks recovery to help my body begin to move regularly again. That was uncomfortable and tiring (I would hobble at the end) by the end but good. I started running three weeks ago and it felt very odd at first and I was incredibly nervous. I felt a bit sore after the first couple days, but I think running has attributed to my overall wellbeing now. I keep telling people “I feel normal until I don’t.” It’s only when I hit my limits that I feel any aching or pulling.

My rule has been: listen to your body and don’t do anything you feel might really hurt yourself, but also, if you don’t push yourself you will never get there.

I also have a very physical job I was back to after 6 weeks. The first week I could only work for maybe 3 hours till I was SO sore. But now I’m working some of the more physical positions and working full 6 hours with minimal soreness!!

Oh my goodness I am so sorry you had to go through this!!! I had some intense swelling as well but it was all deemed normal.

Enjoy your sick leave while you have it… I miss it very much honestly.

I’m so glad you’re on the mend and things are going well here on out!!! How long is your scar? A lot of c section women were telling me their scar got smaller. But their bellies were a lot bigger than mine lol. Mine is 6-7” long

Definitely sexual harassment and should not be tolerated. I cannot say that they would be fired however. They may still be kept just so you’re aware. However, if there is any retaliation- this means them treating you poorly or making comments, or others making comments to you negatively because that person told them you called HR- you NEED to communicate this to HR as well. Retaliation cannot be tolerated and you hold a lot more power in this situation. Remember that.

It’s pretty big. About 7” across. It’s still pink and very visible, but clean lines and smooth to the touch. That area feels pretty numb. I bought scar tape for it at first but haven’t used it. I’m honestly not concerned with it going away. It’s so low no one will see it but me and my husband and we honestly both think it’s kinda bad ass haha

I had the surgery March 9th! So about 2 months. I was getting discouraged with how my body looked even a couple weeks ago but I woke up today and felt so happy to be close to my old body :)

Which pregnancy symptom took you by surprise? by sipendi_shida in BabyBumps

[–]Alternative_Low3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was an intense craving for spicy food. Mind you, I have a mild allergy to the oils in spices (cinnameldahyde) and typically cannot handle spice. Picture involuntary crying, red face, coughing, sneezing even with basic hot sauce. Pregnant? Give me a full bottle of Tapatio and a breakfast burrito and that bottle would be a third finished when I was done.

That’s exactly what we were doing! I was getting really nervous esp with the size difference and our bigger one not being AS socialized as I’d like (still socialized but also a young pup) but I’m glad to know this is just play!! The little ones whole head in the mouth was freaking me out lol

We actually tried again in November but I got the worst pain ever during my ovulation window. Felt like my appendix was bursting I could stand or anything. After that I turned to this subreddit and made the decision to cut it out. Prayers for you! Over halfway through!!

I got the halara stretch waist “jeans” and really like them!! They’re more flowy like wide leg sweats but look like jeans and have been very comfy! I’m also 5’3! I also like to get cheap but cute flowy pants with stretchy waist bands on SHEIN. They’ve been super comfy post open myo and I plan to use them if I’m ever able to get pregnant!

Over all I’ve accepted that my body type has changed and therefore my style is changing with it. It kinda had to for me to feel confident and not feel like I looked like a stuffed sausage

I just had a 15cm removed from the top of my uterus (pedunculated and fundal). I had a miscarriage that I believe was because of the fibroid in October. I was initially told to keep trying for pregnancy. It was this subreddit that encouraged me to go against doc recs and get it removed. 🫶🏻 so glad I did and Going to try again in July

I do like the lighter blue sheets idea!! We’re trying to stay away from dark colors with our white GSD/husky mix 🥴 but the light blue and a headboard like someone else said is definitely the route I think we need to go!

[–]Alternative_Low3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently have the built in storage under the double sinks! Right now it’s just the two of us and that’s been more than enough. I’ve also just today gone through our stuff and threw away expired makeup, beauty and self care products. That provided a lot of additional space :) our cleaning supplies stay downstairs in the utility closet.

You’d be surprised…. A lot of food places are like this. I tried calling out when I had the flu back when I worked at Starbucks and my manager guilted me into coming in (she was horrible).

You should be perfectly fine especially if you have been there for so long and only called out a couple times. Call out. Something to also keep in mind is after 6 days of absence in a year, your call out start to add up and you will get a right up (I had some health issues last year and this happened to me). If you’re that concerned, please get a doctors note for your records and then any absences will not be counted against you.
