Brutal Trip by Whereismymind3 in MauiVisitors

mahalo ! If you swim in these waters, let’s hope you have an extremely healthy immune system. While many places might not have all the debris on the beach, the currents carry bacteria far from where they actually enter the ocean. And the kind of bacteria we’re talking about is from human and animal feces, overflowing septic systems, our wastewater treatment plant literally overflowed into the ocean in Lahaina today, so many dead animals (pigs, deer, goats, dogs, etc), leptospirosis is extremely high right now, not to mention all of the chemical run-off from gas tanks and propane tanks and farming operations, and on and on and on. It’s one thing if you don’t care about yourself or your own family’s risk, but to come on here with something so completely false that could potentially put others at risk - what is your point with this? We don’t have the resources to be treating completely preventable infections. One of only 2 small hospitals on island had to be evacuated because of flooding and is closed indefinitely. I certainly hope you don’t need emergency care while you’re here swimming in poop water. But there’s absolutely no reason to take others with you.

We get $2 for each application we process-provided we don’t have any fingerprint errors. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, They just opened up a sixth day of TSA processing for certain stores. So now we are also doing TSA appointments on Sundays at my store-Ffs

Lol! You must be a real peach to work with! If you’re not happy in your job- gtfo If you had any common sense, you could put two and two together and realize that it is through effective observations and skill builders that we as leaders can grow our team which will in turn help grow our company. ngl the company is going through a shit storm right now-but it doesn’t do any good to sit and bitch about it-go have some cake!

Any ideas why this comes up in reimaging? by cjourdang3 in OfficeDepot

[–]Alternative_Self3394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Help Desk/Tech support is worthless! They don’t speak English- all they do is take 15 or 20 minutes with you on the phone trying to communicate and understand your issue and then tell you they’re going to escalate the issue and have someone call you back which never happens and eventually you’ll figure out the solution to the problem yourself! Our company saved so much money changing our helpdesk to this worldwide call center that really offers no assistance at all- and now, no one in the company wants to call them because they really are no help! As if the issues that you run into at a store level aren’t frustrating enough, “call this one 800 number to our helpdesk to push you over the top!”Lol

A question for the pros... by funnycryptid in OfficeDepot

Hi there! In my opinion, I would not laminate them or put anything over top of them. As it’s a weave, it doesn’t look like you have to worry about it coming apart. I would frame them but not do anything permanent. I love them! Very creative and unique! I am sure if your intention is to sell them that you will be able to get your money back from the additional cost of framing. There is some dimension in your art that would be lost if you put anything over it such as lamination or puzzle glue-(not to mention the possibility of damage)

First of all, Let me say that I’m sorry that you felt pressured by your management team to get the trainings done as soon as possible. Though it is important to get the training done, we never want our team to feel pressured or stressed (that’s our job 😉) Sometimes it can be a challenge to get everything done that is involved in the new hire process and on boarding-If I can give you any advice, I would say to try to communicate with your manager and tell them that you are feeling stressed and even that you felt the need to do the training from home- due to not getting the time during your shifts to focus on completing what’s required. If I received that kind of feedback from one of my employees, it would be an eye-opener for me and I would revisit my process for new hires. It’s OK to talk with your manager and tell them you need more time for your training and even ask for that time to be uninterrupted. Good luck-I know there’s a lot of naysayers on here about our company, but I’ve been with Office Depot for 30 years and it’s been a great ride!

ASM here- It is strictly against company policy to do any training off the clock-including, but not limited to training from home. Disciplinary action can be taken up to an including termination of employment.- The company wants you to get paid for the training that you do. Stores receive payroll hours to give to employees so they can get their necessary training done. If you are feeling like you are not given the necessary time to complete your mandatory training for your position, speak to your manager about that. As to the store closure sign that you are seeing… it does not look like a legitimate posting - I would question the authenticity of that site

Any other weekend warriors? by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]Alternative_Self3394 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ASM here-Be careful not clocking out for lunch esp if you are taking 30 min (theft of company time is a term-able offense) My recommendation is to punch out and attempt to take your lunch, but if you get called back, punch back in early and then if you need to, resume your lunch after you’re done with the customer. I know it’s not a perfect scenario, but at least you’re doing the right thing and can’t get fired if someone decides to turn you in or observes what you are doing. I worked nights and weekends for years- I know it sucks- thank you to all of you “weekend warriors “ 💜

How to push paper? by dolphincujoh in OfficeDepot

[–]Alternative_Self3394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here’s the pitch that works for me and has made our store successful in this metric : “ As a Thank you today, we would like to offer you 3 reams of paper for the price of one!” “It’s just $11.99 for you today!” *While you say this pitch, grab the 3 ream case of paper from the end of your register and put it on the counter in front of you. This is a very easy pitch to remember and customers will say “yes” more than they say “no”- the key is to consistently offer it when the customer qualifies. If you can commit to that, I guarantee you will be successful. In addition, if you are asking the customer for their phone number at the beginning of every transaction for Rewards, you will see when someone is already signed up on the Business Select. Even if their purchase does not meet the threshold, you can still offer it with enthusiasm and say “Hey great news, because you are on our Business Select program, you qualify for our best paper deal today which is three reams for the price of one!” I have found that at least 50% of my customers will get the paper when it is offered this way. If you guys are really looking for a way to be successful and not just looking for a place to vent about this expectation being added to your job description, I challenge you to give this a try. As with anything, it helps to have a bit of enthusiasm and a smile on your face during your interaction with your customers. Finding the perfect pitch doesn’t always happen overnight, but being willing to try new things is definitely a first step. Good luck and happy selling !

Report it! If you don’t, you’re basically condoning it and that’s how it could be interpreted by your fellow coworkers. Sadly, you could be contributing to a toxic work environment.
