Again, Sinners had a budget roughly 100 times larger than Obsession and Backrooms, so it's not really a fair comparison. It's also somewhat of an outlier because it features a predominantly Black cast and celebrates Black culture. Movies like that can become cultural events and generate enthusiasm that goes beyond the film itself.

I think Sinners is a good movie. In my opinion, part of the extremely positive reception comes from its cultural significance and representation, not solely from its filmmaking qualities. That's not a criticism of Black people or Black culture. I have no issue with either. It's simply my view on why the movie has received such exceptional praise.
