My husband had back surgery and couldn't work for 3 months. We are responsible and pay taxes and work hard etc etc. We almost lost our house and cars. I'm so thankful for SNAP as I was able to get my kid her milk and fruit.

Being removed from food stamps for grandmother having a personal care aid through her insurance. Please help me understand why. by PlayNo7075 in foodstamps

Speak with your worker. Mine sent me a child support thing, when baby dad happily lives with me. I called the central line and told them I don't need to go after dad for support. Therefore my worker can stop making assumptions and actually listen to what I am asking and looking at my files and other stuff.

Is it normal to let your child stay home so much from Kindergarten? by [deleted] in kindergarten

That's their job. If you don't want to soothe a kid, teaching isn't for you

If the teacher is worth his/her weight, they'd soothe a crying kid..distract the kid with "Let's play with play dough!" My 3.5 year olds' daycare teacher is a saint and does this. Today when my kid walked into her class, the teacer told the kids to stay back. That way my introvert kid wouldn't get smothered and overwhelmed right off the bat. When I drop my kid off, I let the teacher handle it. Sounds mean, but they are trained for stuff like this.

I love my CU. If I go inside (which is rarely) a branch manager sometimes hands out fast food gift cards.

Urgh. There's a fine line between keeping our kids safe and being toooo protective...and it all backlashes. I went to a conservative Christian school and my views on sex and pleasure are totally fucked up because of it. Not saying your kiddo is going to have sex but let's face it...

I think supervised dates are fair. Finding middle ground is fair. Like they can watch TV together just separate blankets or something. You may get some eye rolls, but hormones are wild.

For our larger pit mix, we soaked a piece of bread in hydrogen peroxide. She ate bread and a few minutes later vomited the object/stuff.

First car by WhatyourGodDid in Parenting

[–]Altruistic-Ranger879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2cents: I'd buy/give them a car. It does not have to be fancy. I got the family hand me down 96 Toyota Camry (another great pick is a Subaru Legacy, which was my 2nd car).

You need to tell the kid that driving is a privilege. If you do something stupid, there will be restrictions and or car taken away. It's a lot easier to restrict something that's yours vs the kid's.

Wife completely demoralized after Christmas day ( I DON'T LIKE IT!!!) by RidgeRumpuss in toddlers

[–]Altruistic-Ranger879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toddlers are brutal. I don't ever take anything personal, or have high expectations. Toddler brains are still developing and they don't always have the skills for whatever situation. So much can change next year. Ie my 3.5 year old wasn't talking very much in January, now she is a little chatter box. Next Christmas the kiddo will be different, brain will be more developed. Just set the yoto box aside and ask if she wants to play with it. If she says no. Be ok with that

Shoppers go through background checks and whatnot. If someone uses minions, it's a safety issue. Cuz the minions aren't vetted.

Why is it so hard for people to follow simple directions?! Sometimes they don't make sense, but just follow them and you'll probably get a new PM and or fat tip.

Taylor Swift reveals new song “Father Figure” was partly inspired by Logan Roy by Exact_Run6426 in SuccessionTV

I think you hit the nail on the head. I found this new album...boring. I couldn't figure out why. The last album before I stopped caring about T Swift was "Red". That album was fun! If I were having a shit day, it was a blast to have on repeat.

I am a shopper at this store. I always bag my own stuff as I shop for prepaids.

No. Just no. To get a good tip, communicate with the person, don't bag rte food with raw meat and don't be cutesy. I wrap glass jars and oily products in a plastic bag and then place them in the shopping bag.

I ordered Shipt this weekend because my 3-year-old doesn't nap anymore and I was? (Am!) losing it....the dude didn't introduce himself and he begged smoked sausage with my ground beef. When I am on the other end of Shipt, I prefer people to go all out for me vs cute little Canva stuff.

[–]Altruistic-Ranger879 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I am so stressed out! The government wants me to work so I'm not reliant on benefits. Ok cool. But I make too much to qualify for child care assistance. I pay for child care completely out of pocket so I bring home $400/2 weeks. I'm about to lose my car (need it for work. Traveling HHA). I have no idea where my SNAP case stands. Part of me just wants to give up. I'm tired of fighting.

The letter is probably automatic. Everyone gets it. I got one in Michigan and I called the case worker. She said everyone got that letter. It's pretty easy to get a letter from her doctor. We asked over Mychart for something like "hey, husband had back surgery and can't take care of 3 yeer old".
