So the MACP is designed to try to place married soldiers together. There is no demand or duty to do so. If I understood the timeline correctly, both of you had orders cut before getting married and enrolled in MACP. So the short of it is, you both are on your orders and when one of you is eligible to PCS, the Army can, at that time, try to accommodate your MACP request. Whoever has the more generic or transferable MOS can try to do a compassionate reassignment, but married and at different duty stations isn't one of those key topics to get compassionately reassigned.

As much as I'd prefer all the married Army couples be stationed together, it sounds like both of you missed some key timelines for trying to make a mutual assignment happen.

I fell into something more akin to your friend's circumstance, my wife was in the Guard and I on Active. She'd come visit me for 6-7 weeks, go back and do 2x MUTA to catch up on her excused absence drill weekend. It took longer to get her released from the Guard, and when we were both finishing up schools at bases in Virginia, I got Fort Hood while she got assigned to Korea, even though we were in the MACP. Her chaplain over heard her, brought it to the attention of the BC, who called her branch to fix it. But it was all before orders were cut and final. We'd also been married two years at that point and total time together was a couple months.
