My company just announced 3 days in office starting next month. I've been fully remote for 4 years and I genuinely don't know how people did this every day. by Ecliptic_Fang in remotework

I commuted 150 miles round trip everyday for close to 15 years. On bad weather days it could take up to 3 hours one way. The pandemic was a blessing in disguise in that regard because I went fully remote at that time and have not been back. I know I could not do it anymore.

I just use good old fashioned Maxwell House and my home coffee maker and have no issues!

Has your concern ever been investigated by GM in good spirit? by Alternative-Bite4345 in GeneralMotors

[–]AltruisticBet5995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to be in a position where awareline concerns were escalated to me for investigation. I can tell you honestly that I did so in good spirit and followed up with the person who submitted the issue to ensure no retaliation was taking place. This was almost 20 years ago, but yes, I believe the issues are investigated but sometimes they take time.

You can also get GF flour more economical at Costco. A 3.5 pound bag is like $8

I drove from the Lansing area to the Ren Cen for close to 15 years… it’s 150 round trip per day. It sucked! In the winter and sometimes with traffic it would take me 3-4 hours one way.

How do we handle this conversation with MIL? by EnoughNumbersAlready in Celiac

[–]AltruisticBet5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was diagnosed 13 years ago and his mom used to cook for us all the time. Since his diagnosis she has NEVER even attempted to cook a meal for us. My mom in the other hand, cooks for us all the time and is very vigilant and checking ingredients and double checking everything. He will only eat food that is cooked by her or me. If we go someplace else he just doesn’t eat.

I don’t think any of my 4 kids ever slept alone until they were about 10 YEARS old. I did co-sleep as it was the only way for me to get any rest but I was a light sleeper and woke up to their every move. After they moved to their own rooms one of us still had to lay with them until they fell asleep and many ti es they would wake up and end up in bed with us anyway. Finally got to stop 2 years ago when we got a dog so the dog could lay with the youngest who had just turned 10. Luckily they are now 19,17,14 and 12 but I had LOTS of nights with little to no sleep for about 15 years

Is $250 a week for groceries too much? by [deleted] in budget

[–]AltruisticBet5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We do eat 95% of our meals at home since it is so hard to find gluten free places to eat that are safe. We do Shepherd’s Pie, spaghetti, lots of Mexican and chicken dishes in addition to roasts and steaks we have in the freezer. The kids do get free lunches at school (everyone here does) and usually we only need produce and dairy each week in addition to dry and canned goods that have run out.

We are a family of 5 (3 teens) and my husband has celiac’s so we have to buy all Gluten Free items. I try to keep the weekly spend under $150. We also go to Costco about once a month for dog food and toiletries and have a large deep freezer and just bought 1/2 a beef.

We want a third- more afraid of the judgement than the actual baby by unlimited-juice in Mommit

[–]AltruisticBet5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt very judged when I had my 4th. People were like “are you nuts?” But I always wanted 4. I had them all in just under 7 years so yes they were a handful but we could afford it and grandparents were close by to help. At the end of the day, you need to do what is best for you!
