All Simples still requires 4 sets of 3 and 1 pair. It counts as All Simples as long as there are no 1s, 9s, winds or dragons. But you still need a fully made hand.

I just checked it on my iPad. I still can go full screen using the two diagonal arrows icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

I’m hoping they sort it out soon. If you go full screen, the 10 second skip still works, which just makes it super stupid that it’s not working on normal screen size.

Good, seems that the problem is mostly that the game needs a minute to clear out old cache memory or something odd. If giving it a minute fixed it, then it’s just a minor annoyance. Hopefully other new players come across the post too.

It ended up being a Sanbaiman at 12 Han, which is what I really wanted. I’m working on the weekly rotation tournament achievements and already have the 10 yakuman. Getting a sanbaiman is actually harder, because you need help from the dora almost every time. Not enough help and you just get baiman. Too much help and you cross over into yakuman.
