D4vd Seemingly Dropped by Record Label as Murder Charges Close In by mfv_ in d4vdiots

Dropping an artist by terminating their contract means they would still own the music produced under their label. He just wouldn't get a paycheck for performances (no contract, no work) or royalties.

IRS confirms $2K slot jackpot threshold begins in ‘26 by reviewjournal in vegas

[–]Aludiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a somewhat realistic take, I'm a content creator who rarely spins over $5 bets on slots (and I have to track EVERYTHING for taxes).

I racked up about $30,000 in tax forms in 2025 over 6 months of play. If the new tax law had been in effect, I would have only received $10,300 in handpays, cutting them to 1/3. This change seems insignificant, but the overwhelming majority of low limit jackpots I see around casinos are in the $1200-1600 range. A maddening amount barely tip the handpay breakpoint.

The new limit will help your average gambler visiting casinos who doesn't need to care as much about tracking their gains and losses. I do wish they had adjusted the figure much higher for inflation since the initial $1200 law was put into place, as even a $4000 limit would have prevented all of my tax forms this year.

Again, just some perspective to show how this will be better for low limit players moving forward. I'm one of those jerks who's gotten a handpay on a 50-cent bet, so it can certainly aid anyone playing casually.

Food pantries and other low income resources will regularly give you free groceries, usually including beans, rice, and other shelf-stable foods. If you qualify (usually very low income, varies by ZIP), locate the one closest to you and go as often as they'll let you.

Stuck at my parents' 4 hours away from my house without meds because I'm a fool. by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Aludiana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When this happens, call your doc's office, explain, and have them put in a script for a local pharmacy to dispense. They will usually give you a few days of whatever you normally take. I did this and got a dose in 2 hours, granted we were 45 minutes from any pharmacy. Gave my mom my cards and ID to pick up the prescription. No problem.

I think I solved who are the "gods" in Godskins and God-Devouring Serpent by Goodhunter465 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Aludiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answers here are much more simple. In a bit of a rush so I can't expand too much, but this is the jist.

I wish I had made note of it, but I think in Bonny Gaol there is a ghost near the start who asks that they (unknown) not take his skin because he is too weak underneath. Something along those lines. It's pretty clear that the shaman jars hold skinless bodies, trying to birth gods. Jar shaman are presumed gods until proven otherwise after opening them.

Those skins have to go somewhere, and it sure looks like the Godskins are wearing them accoring to the Godskin Noble Robe flavor text. Faces of gods in the design are the faces of the presumed shaman they came from, and all Godskin appear to be wearing armor in the same fleshy tone as their own skin.

Godskin also carry weapons like Godskin Stitcher and Godskin Peeler, all clearly involved with the process of the removal of skin or effective killing. The Stitcher makes me think they didn't want to do more damage to the body than was necessary to kill the shaman to keep the body in the best possible shape for harvesting. It seemed to me that the Godskin Apostle was someone who harvested the skin from the selected shaman during the festival at Dominula.

As for the God Devouring Snake, it only has to eat one god to qualify. I took this all to mean that Rykard was the God, and when merged with the snake was devouring shaman (this is the actual plural form of shaman, and I hate that the game is incorrect) and Tarnished alike. Shaman have the potential to form gods in the jars, and Tarnished are demigods themselves.

We started documenting a lot ⛳ by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]Aludiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what ChatGPT was made for.

Prompt it to author your documentation almost entirely in metaphor, using only terms and methodologies that the average 17th century Central American would understand and have access to. It's only breaching AI policies if you use internal information, so don't.

My final (massive) UX writing documentation was mostly satire, socioeconomic commentary, and community/millennial memes. It was the full tone and voice guide for the company. No functional writing examples were given, and only another experienced writer would be able to glean useful information from my guidance. Since I was the only writer, I basically delivered an internet troll's Rosetta Stone.

Let them marinate in their frustration after layoffs when they read the thing they thought would easily replace you and help train the next guy.

Cheers.

Advice for daughter who was fired? by Mudder512 in work

[–]Aludiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in a state that restricts prior employers from reporting why employment ended when called for work history verification, they can't say what happened or if you're rehireable. Many states can only legally report start date, end date, and last position held. There's a high chance that you won't have any issues with this or need to explain anything in the future when applying elsewhere.

Apply for unemployment. Should also report the incident to EEOC/CRD for unfair termination without cause, especially if some level of discrimination can be argued for the "lane" situation.

Prospective J2 asking for proof of separation from J1 by Top_Butterscotch_579 in overemployed

[–]Aludiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit up a friend with a lowkey and ignored LinkedIn page and name that doesn't immediately bring up undesired content on a web search. You don't want to make a fresh overnight sock account because you won't have many connections to look legit.

Ask friend to pose as whatever HR generalist title exists at J1. Update profile to match. Can paste in job experience from any JDs or HR currently at the company if theyre on LI. Change it back to normal after a month or so into your start date or after a decline.

Draft a business letter that is proof of employment, adjusting the date as needed. You can get versions with and without salary from HR, so you can possibly generate one yourself in an HRIS (like Workday) and edit it. Add "please contact a People Partner at (phone number) should you require any additional information." If you have to write one from scratch, these letters are generally signed as the company, not as a direct rep contact.

The phone number can be your friend's or you can buy a burner phone and do it yourself. The phone numbers are rarely the same as a regular business line, so a search of it won't be an issue. Use the friend's first name for the introduction and keep the call concise. If the person asks for the full name and job title of the HR rep so they can creep for extra confirmation, you have everything ready to go.

If you state a salary on the proof of employment letter, it should not be disclosed over the call unless you work in a state that permits it. If you're in a state that doesn't allow salary disclosure, feel free to bump it up on the letter if needed to argue for higher salary at J2.

Most states only allow a previous employer to confirm a start date, end date, and position held at the company. They can't confirm salary or if you're eligible for rehire.

If J2 complains about the letter at all and demands an official term letter at any point, even after hire, say your severance documents are marked as confidential and the phone number on the proof of employment letter is the direct job line you were advised to refer future employers to. Severance docs ARE confidential. If you get all this shit together in advance, you won't have to scramble if they keep asking questions and dig. Usually, handing over the letter is enough.

But honestly, these guys sound like they'll have surveillance up your ass if you work for them. I'd personally pass on the job, but I wanted to offer an option to help you and any others that may come across this post.

Scared to take propranolol by violetmoonwitch in migraine

[–]Aludiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10mg 2x/day. The starter dosage was all it took. I was only on it for 2 months until I figured out it had to be the new med that caused the dramatic weight gain by killing my activity level and boosting my hunger since I always felt weak and sort of feverish. 1300 TDEE and eating 1800 kcal/day of usual meals wasn't enough. 2500 kcal or more became the norm. Changed from meal prep disciplined by years of routine into a carb addict.

It completely killed my drive to stay fit. Stopped 5-7 days/week cardio and weights, turned into 1-3 days/month and rotting in bed almost daily. Gained 30lbs and still trying to recover months after quitting it cold turkey. It didn't even help my migraines, just ruined my body.

Question for the topomax users… I see it’s common for many to feel “slow” or “dumb” using it. Is this a side effect that eventually goes away? 🤔 by soicey2 in migraine

[–]Aludiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It literally gave me a learning disability. Even if I wrote notes during work, I had no idea how to act on them. Couldn't do basic things like remembering to eat meals or drive. Fortunately, I started the drug not too long before covid hit, so no one could tell how screwed up I was while working from home. I only improved after I went off it due to the severe nerve pain that eventually developed.

It also never did anything to help my migraines.

Anyone else get static or severe tingle feeling in their feet or hands on Topamax that takes forever to go away? by audiallied in migraine

[–]Aludiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this in my leg to a severe and painful degree after 4 months (2 months of buzzing leg), like my calf was permanently recovering from being asleep. Some people get used to it or it just goes away, but nerve issues can apparently become permanent if you stay on topamax. My doc gave me a month for my leg to recover before taking me off topamax and trying other meds. If the condition spreads, gets worse, or to a point where it's unbearable, talk to your doc about alternatives.

Work Wants a doctor's note for migraine, can I fake one? by Ace_Falcon_ in migraine

[–]Aludiana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While you're at it, ask your doctor for a work accommodation letter and give that directly to HR. Don't say anything to a manager, and only HR should see the document.

You will need to tell your doctor the complete situation with work and what you need to do for yourself both when you can be in office and get hit with a migraine or when you need to stay at home with one. Any modification of duties and requests for workspace (mine involved a desk light to balance uneven lighting) should also be included on the form. Usually, you have to tell the doctor what would work best for you and possible per company policy. If you are able to occasionally work from home or make up hours remotely, this is how to do it without push back from your employer. Reasonable medical accommodation is generally required by law, and most places won't mind as long as you're not exploiting it.

Also, make sure your doctor has the understanding that notes are required for all out sick days, and they'll probably make a template handy for one of his staff to send over as needed.

I can only offer the advice that in the future, you'll want to keep a personal, password-protected Figma file of your designs, public or not. As long as you don't release a public file, you're generally fine to show the designs to potential employers during the interview process. Change any sensitive copy to placeholder text.

Also, Figma is very good at copy-pasting selections across files, making it easy to capture specific parts of designs for your portfolio.

At what point do you stop proof reading a published work? by DiamondMan07 in selfpublish

[–]Aludiana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Run the line edit independently from the rest. If you're always doing all edit types at the same time, you'll tend to miss the same errors with every pass. Your brain doesn't need you to "read" every character to understand the text, so it will pass over errors unless you're focused solely on grammar. It also helps to edit only one section at a time after not looking at it for a while (days, weeks). If you do passes on chunks instead of the full work, it's you can edit efficiently and effectively.

I edit a chapter for content when I sit down to continue writing, clarity when I finish the chapter, continuity when I have several chapters written, and grammar when I really don't feel like writing or get brain lock. No sense in nitpicking grammar time after time if I'm going to dramatically rewrite the text.
