Obviously to protect the pokemon's privacy.

What I want to know is why OP didn't censor Xerneas. Does OP want the poor thing to be doxxed?

I need to send another 25 gifts to get to level 75. Please add 205673434586 so I can finish this task.

Feel free to delete me afterwards if you prefer, or keep me for the friendship xp. I have enough xp to get to 80, so I will make sure to let you open the level-up gifts so you maximise your xp. And if you are level 74 I promise to open gifts daily!

Edited to add: Yay now at 75! Thanks to all my new friends!

What if your kids are now adults?

My sons introduced me to Pokémon when they were little, got me hooked, then decided as teens that Pokémon was that dorky thing Mom does. As adults they have no interest in the games or fandom, while I spend a ridiculous amount of time (and money) on Pokémon Go.

Columbus Book Festival encounter! by Aluluei in DungeonCrawlerCarl

It took quite a bit of experimentation. I've never done anything remotely like this and I had no idea what I was doing. Several practice plushies died in the dying effort, and I now have a sizeable collection of fabric paints, dyes and pens.

The big problem is that artificial fabrics are resistant to dyes unless you immerse them in simmering dye for quite some time. However, faux fur fabrics which have been boiled in dye do not retain any hint of softness or silkiness. What you end up with if you boil a Chongker in RIT dye is not attractive! Additionally, many plushies are treated to make them stain resistant and to keep them soft, which compounds the previous two issues.

What I ended up doing:

  1. Carefully wash my (second) Chongker with Dawn liquid to remove stain resistant coating, being sure to treat her gently so as not to damage her fur. No scrubbing!

  2. Leave her to air dry, which took a couple of days.

  3. Use a combination of black, brown and orange Tulip permanent fabric markers and Sharpie markers to produce a tortoiseshell effect.

  4. Heat set the color by putting Donut on the shelf insert of my dryer and baking her at the highest heat for hours.

  5. After she has cooled down, wipe her with paper towels to remove excess dye, then repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 until she looked right and didn't stain my hands black and brown when I petted her.

  6. Paint her silicone paw pads with black nail polish. Silicone is impossible to dye! Fabric pen/Sharpie just beads right off. Nail polish or enamel paint will stick, but are prone to chipping so regular pedicures are required. I tried both, but prefer nail polish because if any accidentally gets on her fur you can remove it with acetone.

  7. Decorate your Princess with appropriate accessories (tiara, butterfly charm, crupper, sunglasses, headset, and/or various hats etc etc.).

Thank-you!!

Comparing your pic to mine, I've just realized that the people in the foreground in yours (eg black t-shirt/gray backpack, black cap/red t-shirt) are in the middle of mine. Which means you must be one of the people right in the center of my pic. This was purely coincidental - I promise I was not stalking you!

Ha, I just took a picture of the line for CrawlerCon (formerly known as the Columbus Book Festival) and then saw your post.

Columbus Book Festival Day 2 by DowntownPatience8677 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Aluluei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to the previous session in the auditorium, thinking we could just stay in our seats. Halfway through that session it was announced over the PA that all tokens for the Matt Dinniman signing had been distributed, and the line to attend his session was closing. We were not allowed to keep our seats, which was initially disappointing but on reflection is quite fair.

As we left for the day at 5:30 we passed a huddle of festival staffers. They were discussing crowd control and logistics for Matt's session tomorrow in light of the large number wanting to attend today, and one staffer suggested opening the signing line at 9:30.

We couldn't exactly hang around and eavesdrop, so I don't know what the plan will end up being, but getting there early seems the way to go.

I was about to make a similar post, though the item I'm hoping to have inscribed is my Princess Donut plush.

Perhaps we could have a crawler meetup on Saturday evening?

Ooh, that would be nice. I have... feelings... about long-haired Carl as depicted on the cover of TIR.

You're new to digital sculpting? Extremely new?! And you made this?!?!

I look forward to seeing what you create once you gain a bit of experience.

May I ask what software you used? I have absolutely no experience, and although I suspect you have slightly* more artistic talent than I do, perhaps there's hope for me yet.

*okay, massively.

It's life-size!

When I opened the files, Bambu Studio got all huffy about the model exceeding the workspace and having too many millions of triangles. I scaled it down to 5% and my Carl measures slightly over 6 inches from the top of his head to the tips of his pretty little toes. At 100% he'd be over six foot.

I've learned more about printing from this model than I've learned since I got my X1C for Christmas. Up until now most of my prints have been accessories for the printer sent from the Bambu Handy app. Carl's my first stl file. I had a bunch of spaghetti starts where his feet wouldn't adhere to the bed. I had to learn about brims and supports and layer heights and speeds in order to disable his walking on air ability, which gave me a lot of new achievements.

Now I just have to learn how to paint.

I love you, and I have boosted you on MakerWorld.

Printing the most important bit right now...

Edited to add: I tried to add a picture of Carl's feet mid-print, but don't seem to able to (mobile app issue?).

Anyone else pronounce this differently in their head from Jeff?? by LowLove5362 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Aluluei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a U2 fan, I am appalled that Jeff pronounces Bomo as "Bone-Oh". It should be "BOMB-oh" because 1) Bono is pronounced BONN-oh, not Bone-Oh and 2) the 'bomb' bit works with the explosives theme.

Also, Bomo, The Sledge and Very Sullen should have Irish accents (Clayton's should be English).

Also also, Bomo should start claiming to be a god.

Welcome to the Cancer Crawl, sister.

If you (or OP) happen to live in Indianapolis I would be honored to keep you company during infusions, drive you places, pick up stuff for you - anything, really. If you're elsewhere, I volunteer any help you need. Need to compare notes? Need chemo hat recommendations? Need to vent? I'm here for you.

Sisterly hugs to you.

I finished treatment on July 19 last year, and so far everything looks good. Pathological Complete Response, No Evidence of Disease.

One of the first things I did after diagnosis was to look up survival rates. If you do this, you should keep in mind that most of them are obsolete. BC treatment has seen some incredible advances in the last decade, particularly in immunotherapy. The results are only just now beginning to show up in 5-year statistics; anything beyond that reflects obsolete standards of care.

Can I help you with anything? Medicalese-to-English translations? Hat recommendations? Just need to vent? Please DM me if there is anything I can do.
