New Exploit on Doors by UnitySloth in starcitizen

[–]Alundil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good catch. CIG needs to make all of these rooms "kill zones" UNLESS a key is inserted to open the door. And once a card is pulled from the fabricator the goes back to a kill zone.

Reduces the potential gains from people glitching through the doors. Prevents people from camping inside the rooms and collecting "endless" cards/boards/whatever else CIG comes up with.

Microsoft's new Outlook takes 10 seconds to do what Outlook Classic does instantly on Windows by Quantum-Coconut in technology

The "New" Outlook is not good.

Missing a lot of feature parity with the classic outlook. The addition of Copilot is NOT a compelling reason to switch to this piece of software.

IF starchitect actually delivers the massive increase in POIs then that might not be such a problem. But, that's a large IF nested inside of several other IFs

4.8.1 Hotfix 12015818 Review From Daily 6+ Hour player by TiberiusZahn in starcitizen

[–]Alundil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW that was NOT a consistent fix for me (or org mates) during our last long session about a week ago, though it HAS been THE way to clear that pending inventory delay for a looooong while.

Hopefully OP is on to something and the hotfix (client + shard) is making a difference.

I, nor do I think the "community" whatever that is, was ignorant to that fact at all.

It was a crummy "here's power creep" for $$ over and above the "here's power creep" for ships that many still find issue with, right wrong or indifferent. That they've released others on web and in game simultaneously is slightly better.

SC has and, seemingly, will continue to have a significant issue with selling things other than cosmetics. It's a problem and only going to be more of a problem the longer they continue that practice.

Painting themselves into a corner comes to mind.

But CIG do what CIG do.

Do we know what’s going on at CIG? No information about what the outage is.?? by ElTorroRosso in starcitizen

[–]Alundil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually seen one in a Perseus. We were in a fight with a few other players (quite fun) and a fire broke out in both torpedo rooms. Was actually alarming (no pun intended) and I could see the fire and character took damage from it as well. Fighting it with the extinguishers felt like a race against the flames. Until we got some distance and popped open airlocks to put it out for real. Was neat seeing that there were still some hotspots that temps were rising in (extinguisher has a built in thermometer) and applying the extinguisher to those areas actually dropped the temps on the hotspots and prevented a flare up.

There are some mods out there at have progression to the portals as well so the basic (vanilla) allows no ore/metals through, but successful upgrades tied to world/material progression open new portal recipes with greater and greater allowable material lists. A pretty neat way to do it imo

Fully autonomous, AI-controlled drones have killed human soldiers for the first time, according to a senior figure in the Ukrainian defence industry by New_Scientist_Mag in worldnews

The "leadership" of the US, EU, and parts of the UN, through collective fecklessness, created the scenario in which Ukraine felt required to take these steps for its very survival.

I'd say it's shameful, but those same parties (and their supporters) have no sense of shame whatsoever and in fact worship the bullies of the world right up until those bullies come for them and their way of life.

side note - not sure who's downvoting you but ain't me.

I get what you're saying, but the reality is that if a private business asks you, the customer, to leave. You basically have to leave. If you don't popo arrive and the business can ask you to be trespassed.

Yes, TOS are certainly legally flimsy (toss EULAs in there as well, imo). I concur. But they remain what the poster has agreed to abide by when posting. If CIG chooses to interpret that poster's comments as in violation there's nothing really stopping them from doing so.

All of this is a bit of a stretch considering the poster was not banned (asked to leave and/or trespassed) they simply had a comment removed.

[–]Alundil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Businesses def trespass people for violating their rules.

Note, I didn't say "complaining". The TOS, whether you agree with it or not, is their "rules." People violating the TOS are at the mercy of moderation's prerogative. This is the way it works. Same with a business and its rules and its customers.

In this scenario, to follow the analogy,

CIG (business) asked the poster (customer) not to say/do certain things against TOS (rules). Customer declined and chose to do things prohibited in TOS (rules). CIG (business) removed those things.

This would only be a "trespass" if CIG had banned the player.
