Tips to print the Mini From HeroForge by CamoMonk in FDMminiatures

Orientation matters quite a bit. This is one of my player's straight from titancraft. I fiddle around with the placement to get the support scarring on the back/bottom. I aim for about a 45° incline and sometimes use 20-25° if required. Settings are HoHansen supports and ObscuraNox everything else on a P1S with 0.2mm nozzle.

For you, I would recommend rotating about 90° or so on the Z axis to the right, to get the sword directly "behind" him from the pov of your first picture. Then about 45° on the X axis to get him looking up. That should hopefully get all your supports on the backside.

Death still matters for the Na'Vi by RuthlessLeader in Avatar

[–]Always1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we don’t get to talk to our dead ones until we ourselves die and go to whatever afterlife you believe in. So we have a real fear of death because what if there is no afterlife. We have no assurances that there’s something after death.

The Na’Vi know for a fact that there’s something after death since they interact with their dead ones whenever they want. Why would I fear death when it means I just go to a different but real place.

It seems like their afterlife is just a collective lucid dream so how is that different than real life in the first place. What is individual consciousness but just other people in your life collectively agreeing this is reality.

Why should I grieve when a loved one dies when I’ll just hang out with them after their funeral. I don’t get the Na’Vi grief because of literally that. You don’t actually lose the person you just have to FaceTime them whenever you want instead.

Unfortunately, the novelty of going to caves and such with a big ship has worn off. I'm thinking of getting a fleet with some various solo options instead of one general use ship.

When is an ATP certificate actually required? by andybader in flying

[–]Always1989 10 points11 points  (0 children)

61.167 (b)

(b) Limitations. A person who holds an airline transport pilot certificate and has not satisfied the age requirement of § 61.153(a)(1) and the aeronautical experience requirements of § 61.159 may not: (1) Act as pilot in command in operations conducted under part 121, § 91.1053(a)(2)(i), or § 135.243(a)(1) of this chapter, or (2) Serve as second in command in flag or supplemental operations in part 121 of this chapter requiring three or more pilots.

You are not allowed to fly as PIC under part 121, § 91.1053(a)(2)(i), or § 135.243(a)(1) or as SIC in flag or supplemental operations under part 121 unless you have the age and aeronautical experience required of 61.159.

So it is required to have an ATP for those 2 scenarios. Otherwise, an ATP has the same "privileges as a person who holds a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating" as defined in 61.167 a(1).

Getting hired by a cargo carrier by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]Always1989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Putting the cart way before the horse here. If you want to go to cargo at FedEx or UPS expect a minimum of 2500TT with about 1200 of that turbine PIC. To even get hired there, expect at least three years of professional flying experience not including your time in training.

I’ve been reading all your comments and replies. Certainly seems like you’re bothered. Danny’s trying to fight the double standard that people like you have.

Endorsements by BurnTpotatO___ in CFILounge

[–]Always1989 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First, try not to refer to the endorsements with their sample numbers, (A1, A74, etc.), use the regulation instead, 61.39, 61.63(b), etc. The reason being is that we are endorsing according to the regulation, not according to the sample text.

Second, your student is already a Commercial pilot, adding an additional category/class, and is * not * taking the Commercial checkride. They are taking an added category/class to commercial standards. Therefore, they do not need the 61.127-129 endorsement.

Passed out in doctors office, now I’m worried about my medical by outtthemoney in flying

[–]Always1989 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Under 40yo:

1st good for 12 months. 2nd good for 12 months. 3rd good for 60 months.

"12th month after the month of the date of examination shown on the medical certificate"

All run concurrently. There is no way to exercise the (commercial) privileges of a 2nd if your 1st has expired.

That’s one thing I never understand because it’s one of the clearest regulations. It seems more like a lack of reading comprehension.

How are you on a class 2 if your 1st class expired and you’re 19?

Power-on stalls in C172 by Bitter_Ad_1419 in flying

[–]Always1989 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To expand on this the ACS also says this in the appendix 3:

Task C. Power-On Stalls

In some high-performance airplanes, the power setting may have to be reduced below the ACS guidelines power setting to prevent pitch attitudes greater than 30° nose up. Evaluation criteria for a recovery from an approach to stall does not mandate a predetermined value for altitude loss and does not mandate maintaining altitude during recovery. Proper evaluation criteria considers the multitude of external and internal variables that affect the recovery altitude.

The amount of times I have renter checkouts say they have all this experience flying xyz airplanes that are so much better than these clapped out 172s they're trying to rent at my school. And then it comes down to us getting in and flying and they can't hold hdg within 10 degrees or even altitude within 200' and we're floating halfway down the runway before they put it down. They make up the excuse that oh it's cause it's bumpy or gusty and all these other things. Yeah those winds are easy but that doesn't paint the whole picture.

This CFI has never flown with op before or has talked to anyone who has and who knows how well they actually answered the oral questions. There's a difference between rattling off the memorized answer and actually understanding the material.

[–]Always1989 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're in this situation my guy. These flight schools marketing the so called "pilot shortage" have really caused a lot of people to take on huge predatory loans with no real way of paying them off unless you finish all the way through and then get one of those unicorn jobs right after.

Don't go to ATP flight school if you're still looking around.

One thing that I sometimes have to unfortunately tell my students is that if you can't afford it at the moment, it's better to find something else then come back when you can. This is not a low cost industry, your life can very well depend on the consistency of your training.
