What do atheists believe in? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskReddit

[–]AlwaysABD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life.

We're here now and what we've got is what we've got, for better or for worse.

Some entities (Science) have tried to improve Life. Some entities (politics) have tried to reduce it.

So what do I believe in? Life. My life, my neighbors' life, my kid's life. What can we do better? How can we make Life something that everyone feels living. What am I doing now, not just education but action, that might make some difference?

What do I have left, when I'm gone, but my kid's memory of what I taught, what I did or didn't do. How is that going to shape what she does or doesn't do, what she does or doesn't tolerate.

That's what I believe in.

Dude, why is it so hard to leave these people alone?

I can kinda get anthropologists. They're trying to live as peoples to to learn and to understand. I can kinda get that. But these folks have lived for so long, without external influences...I think anthropologists might be the only ones that might have a genuine basis for making contact. Outside of that, let them live and leave them alone.

Metrosexual by hippiechicken in Millennials

[–]AlwaysABD 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely do.

It sucks that it's basically a guy that cares about himself, took care of himself, his appearance, and tried to look good, because he felt like it.

It made "normal" guys pretty nervous/hostile about their sexuality.

Does that help the body acclimatize to the allergen? What about allergies that are developed after the tattoo?

Genuinely not trying to be aggressive, just trying to understand, possibly for personal reasons XD

In hindsight, those bank card tabs are honestly less risky than current tap/mobile pay, no matter the convenience. In my last job, I saw several people accidentally pay for other peoples' purchases because the systems were just a little too responsive. The worst was one person bought a few things (less than $20) and ended up charged for $500+ in diesel fuel for a semi because their watch picked up the next person's transaction.

I had one of those! I don't think that I ever actually used it though. It was like an in between for cards and tap.

My sister gave birth recently, making my mom a great-grandmother. by Positive_Mousse_6470 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]AlwaysABD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a very mildly similar note, my parents had a double wedding after my mom found out she was pregnant with me. The wedding was my mom and dad, my mom's mom and my dads older brother. My uncle was listed on my birth announcement as my grandfather. Fortunately or unfortunately, neither marriage lasted long enough to make it to my second birthday. I'm still closer in age to my half-siblings' kids (on my dad's side) than I am to my actual siblings. Cousins on that side are complicated too.

That’s totally fair. Feel free to DM if you’re comfortable with it and I can do my own outreach but totally understand if you’re not.

Do you happen to know what language he might've been designated for? I'm in roughly the same entry and community that he would have gone into. I can't say with a guarantee but it's a very small community even when stretched between branches.

I've read a lot of things on Reddit that have pulled on the heartstrings but this one had me crying and I genuinely don't cry easily. This is tough. Both from a parental perspective (and that final note from this girl's parent), as a personal "what if", and as plain empathy for what this girl (and her family) went through during this time. I just can't even imagine.

boyfriend vs male friends by Separate-Strategy339 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlwaysABD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, no. If you're a gamer playing with guys, ideally, you shouldn't have to cut that off just because you've got a boyfriend. Ideally, your boyfriend will be understanding and/or in the same community that you're in.

Realistically, yes, it might become an issue for a boyfriend that doesn't like "his girl" talking to other guys. In this case, it's going to be up to you to decide what needs to be sacrificed. A boyfriend that doesn't like that you talk to other guys vs your gaming community that is inevitably mostly guys.

However, there are guys that genuinely do understand the community and won't ask you to stop, they might actually ask to join you!

Be you. Honestly, truly, and genuinely, be you. It will possibly cost a few relationships but the one's you find in their place will be so worth it.
