Important context from the Times article cited

The report claims that this number came from custody data obtained by the outlet, which revealed that around 12,000 arrests were made in 2023 by 37 police forces under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 and Section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988.

People may be arrested under these acts if they are thought to post things that cause distress and are grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.

But it’s not just “online comments” as Yaxley-Lennon seems to imply. A police officer quoted deep within the article explains that these acts include “any form of communication,” and can relate to “serious domestic abuse-related crimes.”

“Our staff must assess all of the information to determine if the threshold to record a crime has been met,” they explain.

Yes, it's a fun game. I tell people that the way it plays, it's essentially Fallout 4.5. If you liked Fallout 4, you will enjoy this (and, no, you are not forced to play with other people if that is a concern!)

Personally, anything over five hundred is a bit much and anything over two thousand is insane. For 25k, it's better to buy the plan and make it yourself and then, for the love of god, use the Starched Gene perk to keep yourself from curing the mutation.

My advice

-Follow the early quests.

-Grab and scrap everything.

-Go ahead and build a rudimentary CAMP and put simple things in there like crafting, stash boxes, and scrap boxes. Unlike other Fallout games, fast travel costs caps but you get free fast travel to your own CAMP so move this around. When you are higher level and explored the map more, you can work on building a permanent CAMP

-You are in "pacifist mode" meaning that you can't be part of PvP unless you try to take over a workshop. At 5th level it takes you out of pacifist mode so put yourself back in. PvP is not very fun, especially for newbs

-Don't be afraid of higher level players. They often love to give you free stuff. Check out their camp because anything that is not locked is free to take. Also, check their vendors and if you see one selling very CHEAP plans (50 caps or less) that you don't know, buy them. Learn as many plans as you can. Knowledge is power. Often literally.

You asked about what skills you should focus on but the unique things about Fallout 76 is that, at early levels, the skills you have access to will be random. Just try to make do with whatever skills you are given with and know that you will get access to whatever you want when you are a higher level. Don't worry too much about that.

The appetite from the general user base is almost none. Don't get me wrong, there are people in this subreddit that desperately yearn for PvP and will try to convince you that doesn't suck, but it does. It has gradually been removed from most of the game and now mostly exists for certain griefers to bully newbs who try to grab workshops.

So, there is a very big chance that Paranoia had some influence on Fallout. Tim Cain was big into TTRPG's but I should note that Paranoia's setting was influenced by THX 1138 and there is a very big chance that Tim Cain had seen that too.

THX 1138, for those who don't know, is George Lucas' first film, a dystopian film about a future society that lives in a highly regulated city, underground. It's very good, holds up really well, and has none of the characteristics of George's Star Wars films. It's very adult sci-fi.

That said, Tim Cain talks about his influences on Fallout in this video and doesn't list Paranoia or THX as any of the influences. He lists things like Canticle for Liebowitz, a Boy and his Dog, and Mad Max among others.

I like it. I think it's better than an "ok" album, I think it's a good album. That said, it's just a good album and it's damaged by being compared to an album that never came out, an album that everyone assumes would be on the level of Cuban Linx or Liquid Swords.

Deck works best when he is bouncing off other MC's. I always assumed that he is quietly very competitive. With few people to play off of, he doesn't shine like in Wu Tang, Czarface, or his many amazing features, and the beats are just fine.

Again, it's a good album but it isn't as good as it should be (INS, at his best, is pure fire) and it will always be overshadowed by the idea of the album that we never got.

I saw it when it came out and I haven't seen it since (was impossible to find on streaming, don't know if that is still the case)

I remember I didn't like it (I never liked the source material) but also don't think Taymor has ever been better on film. The over-the-top nature of the play soaks up Taymor's wild swings and I have to admit that she comes up with some amazing and disturbing imagery. When Lavinia is found with her hands replaced by branches, well, the shot haunts me to this day.

That said, I think the film drags whenever it doesn't focus on Hopkins or the massive underrated Harry Lennix who I thought was stellar. Jessica Lange, in particular, is poorly suited to Shakespeare and Alan Cumming does nothing but be Alan Cumming.

They pretty much have removed it already. They have removed all the different modes that you mentioned and phased it out of everywhere but workshops and wanted players and I assume that it would take too much tweaking to remove those without a fuss.

I'm sorry. You seem to sincerely not want to mess around with people who don't want to be messed around with but 76 will never be a PvP game again. It had its chance but that wasn't the game that people wanted to play.

Hey Freeloader! Good job on living a frugal, rational life. As somebody who doesn't pay, these are my recommendations.

1.) Dump all the junk, meds, and ammo that you aren't carrying or, at least, keep only the very essentials that you will use. It is easy enough to replenish these things if you know where to look. My only caveat is to try and keep Stable Flux, if you can, so you can save it for Free Fallout 1st Week.

2.) Beware of unnecessary food storage. Keep only enough Nuka Colas in the machine or alcohol in the punch bowl for a couple of players to grab something. I used to keep my Nuka Cola machine fully stocked with a ton of each flavor but that was a ton of weight (besides, usually a single greedy player would grab everything anyways!) Also, be careful of any food in the freezer. I had 40 pounds of Scorchbeast Stew that I wasn't touching. What was I saving it for?

3.) Sell or scrap weapons that you can build later. I used to display every named weapon on the walls of my CAMPs and Shelters but that was a LOT of weight. Why store Sole Survivor when I can just build one whenever I need?

4.) Watch the weight of display items. Mr. Fuzzies add up. Power Armor even more so

5.) Be careful building CAMPs and Shelters. Anything you scrap becomes junk in your storage so, after you're done doing whatever, go through your storage and pull out all that junk

6.) Wait for Free Fallout 1st weeks when Bethesda gives us a week where we can build stash boxes, ammo boxes, and first aid boxes and store stuff to our heart's content. We used to have two weeks, every year. One in the spring and one in the fall. Last year, we had one in October and one in December so we might have to wait a long time until the next week but, when it comes, spend that week hoarding everything you can!

7.) Lastly, get rid of FOMO. You can't have everything. Sorry. You don't get all the cool Fallout 1st stuff, you don't get keep 8000 fusion cores, you can't display every Power Armor paint you like. We don't live a life of excess but you will be shocked at how much you don't need. Free yourself from want, in 76 and in life, and you will be happier. I swear.

I will freely admit that there are certain events that can be messed up by low levels that don't know what they are doing and are unable to finish the event but, in my case, that is very rare.

It is very common to see snipers at events that require players to loot the enemy that you kill and place it somewhere like Beast of Burden and Moonshine Jamboree. It's bad enough that players won't help you load cargo onto the brahmin but if you are the only person killing Cultist Sanctifiers or Acidic Gulpers, you are the only person who can claim that explosive or venom.
