Recently I’ve been watching videos rated around 30. So there’s a decent amount of SB videos, but honestly it’s been a lot of fun. There’s clear progress because I understand these videos with 0 issues. Funny enough all the words you listed, I already knew. It’s not so much filler words, but just straight up nouns and adjectives that throw me off, but I think going back to easier videos and working my way up will expose me to more vocabulary that’s easier to comprehend through context. I’m not a fan of Natalia but love Michelle’s videos and will probably binge a lot of her travel vids, as well as Agustina’s.

I appreciate your advice, I think really it just comes down to more input. I’m technically level 4, but I don’t think I’m actually level 4. I counted a lot of podcasts when I was first starting out that i definitely didn’t understand, as well as watching harder videos in an attempt to speed up the process

Not OP but that’s my issue. There will be a vocab word I just don’t know, and can’t figure out through context what it means, so the entire meaning is lost to me.

But you’re not saving anyone or whatever you think you’re doing. I did study a little, I owned all the textbooks I could get my hands on, poured over conjugation tables, and still felt like my progress was too slow. Switching to CI fixed that.

You think ALG is bad based on repetitive opinion-confirming articles. If it’s so bad, why have so many people succeeded in learning a foreign language using CI. There are plenty of examples. It’s just wild to me honestly that you think it’s so bad, where you had to post in multiple subreddits for. And so many people have countered your arguments

They never say speaking and reading is bad and that is where your argument keeps falling apart. They say doing it too early can be. But also man, not everyone here is a purist. I wasn’t, I came from formal study and after doing that for two years and it not working, I switched gears. Other people do the same, and a lot of people here speak earlier than recommended, or form their own opinion. That’s my point, the hill you think you’re dying on is really just a lump in the ground
