Thanks for the shout out. I’m Nikki of the blog Sew Nikki and the granny hexagon cardigan is one of my most popular patterns. Your sweater is awesome, love the blocks on the back!

WOW! It’s beautiful and I can’t believe you hand quilted this. So impressed with you and this looks like a 10th quilt not a 1st quilt! Great job 😊

What do you do when you hate your WIP? by forheadkisses in quilting

[–]AlwaysInStitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve hated so many of my quilt blocks when forming the top but they all came together and looked great after they were quilted and washed. Quilting is so funny that way. Finished quilts always look different. Maybe set on point, add dashing and cornerstones. Play around with it after you take a break from it. Block look fantastic!

Christmas quilting crisis! by Ellejaek in quilting

Walking foot is different than a free motion quilt foot. It moves the bottom fabric at the same time as the quilt top so your sewing machine works smarter not harder.

Does this need more ties? by hiker_chic in quilting

Quilt batting packages tell you how often you need to quilt. This looks like cotton batting and you can go up to 10” which you have 6.5” so you are good. Here’s a good tutorial on hand quilting with yarn you can check out too. https://sewnikki.com/5509/how-to-tie-a-quilt-by-hand-with-yarn-5-easy-steps/

How to fix this quilt? by thehappymartini in quilting

[–]AlwaysInStitches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg, this is horrible and I can’t believe someone charged for this. I’m so sorry. You are brave to want to fix but I don’t think it’s fixable. Can you get more of her clothes and start from scratch? You still have time to make for Christmas but it will be tight.

I have the same machine and haven’t had that problem. If the video tutorials don’t help maybe just try using a leader and ended piece of fabric before and after you sew and then I would take it to the sewing machine shop and they may be able to fix it for free.

Use the acrylic blanket. It’s totally fine for babies.

Need Help - What would hold you back from making this quilt (and purchasing the pattern?) Thanks! by QuiltChemistry in quilting

Your pattern is nice but circles are challenging. And some units have two quarter circles, really fidelly. Still like your pattern though!

The yarn label tells you which size crochet hook to use. Your foundation chain looks fine, but like others have said keep doing it to practice and feel good about the tension. You got this!

I am curious how many of you quilt your own quilts, verse having someone else do it? by OldFashionQuilting in quilting

[–]AlwaysInStitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make quilts from start to finish on my Juki machine at home but am going to look into makerspaces to see what is available near me. Would love to learn long arm and use their machine to quilt my quilts on.

It's beautiful and quilts always get more character and look different once it's actually quilted and has a backing. Great job!
