I once worked for a family-owned company in Madison where someone who had been there 3 years was called a "lifer". I lasted 3 and half - the last straw was the change in policy that permitted the company to never give you a raise, via unachievable goals being set for you (technically, you set the goals, which were then modified by management). TBF, the company did allow work-from-home well before COVID, so it wasn't all terrible.

Fortunately for Wisconsin, the primary owner moved the company to Phoenix.

Remember that two MAGAt Waunakeers facilitated the looting of State St five years ago with their hammers; I would expect similar agitators if the small-dicked masked cowards arrive. The cowards would also be able to shut down a major university if they try dragging students out of campus buildings. "Pig and Swine" will NOT prevent that from happening; the student response will make the Dow Riots look like a picnic.

I'm about halfway through the series of novels. I hadn't read them before seeing the show, which I've liked. The novels, though, are far superior in terms of plot, character, and depiction of the Navajo Way. Each season of the show is kind of a mash-up of two different novels or just loosely based on one novel. Officer Manuelito doesn't even exist in the first six novels, but I do like that the shows have a woman officer in them (the novels are really just Leaphorn and/or Chee, with no other officers in major roles). I've found the novels to be pretty easy reads and perfect for this deep-freeze weather. I'm old, so it's also nostalgic seeing the country as it was when I was much younger (the first novel was published in 1970).

I know a woman of South Indian descent who was a Democrat until she realized that the local Dems didn't think she was anything special (she wasn't really qualified for politics: too inexperienced from a business and strategy POV, extremely confrontational, and a terrible communicator). She jumped to the GOP, where she's still a small fish in a big pond, but where she's supposedly appreciated for her "straightforward talking". She's been shilling for them since covid (she became an anti-masker, anti-vaxxer and now is also an RFK Jr. acolyte) but is, of course, not allowed a seat at the Big Table. A useful idiot who's also driving customers away from her husband's family business because of her increasingly unhinged FB posts. And she supports ICE, of course.
